That's a no no to begin with and since it's pain meds, it might be taken the wrong way even more. Perhaps you should express the idea that morphine isn't working so well, are there other options? I agree with Darcy- if you say you are sharing meds with others, you are in the soup even though it was for the right reason the Doc will see it as a red flag. Perhaps if you go to the GP and say " I take ZZZ my friend used to take it but she now takes XXX and I was wondering, since it has worked so much better for her than ZZZ, if I could try a short course of XXX to see if it is better for me, too, since she has the same problem? " That way you are also making your point for what you want to try. The only problem with going and saying that the morphine isn't working well is that he might discount all opiates then you are in trouble, or he might try something other than the Oxycontin.
