I went to the local yarn place to pick up yarn and needles after seeing

a scarf a friend was knitting last weekend. I haven't knitted anything

in over 20 years. While talking with the women there, they told me they

offer knitting classes, so I signed up for a 2 hour lesson next Tuesday

afternoon. I'm even taking a couple of hours off from work to do it.

I was a kid the last time I knitted anything and I learned how in Girl

Scouts. I remember feeling like a big shot when I taught my grandmother

how to knit. I still have the afghan she knit for me after I taught her

how to do it. I think I was about 10 years old.

They told me they can get me going again in a couple of hours. I was

able to remember how to cast on and I've knit a few rows on my own. I

also got a copy of " Knitting for Dummies " from amazon.com which arrived

in the mail today.

With a little luck, I'll have a scarf in a week or so.

If my hands are busy knitting, they can't be in food, so this should

help my dieting.
