Guest guest
I make a base soup of canned broth, a can of tomatoes with chilis (or not :-), garlic, onion and celery and some kind of seasoned pepper and then add whatever - usually chopped cabbage and kidney beans at least. Throw it in the crock pot, et voila! My meal in a flash for days, LOL! I should mention here that I live alone and use lots of garlic. Another good trick is a little allspice. Again there are lots of recipes in our shared files - url at the bottom of each message. And I do love Google. Barb > I eat a lot of beans for their fiber content and for the protein because I do not eat a lot of meat. I have used Google as a resource for many things including finding recipes. I search under High fiber and also under vegetarian and have gotten some good recipes. I just stick to the high fiber ones and limit the fats I cook with the " good " oils, mostly olive oil. Guest guest
Well, tonight I took that same base, except used chicken broth instead of beef broth, a can of diced tomatoes, chopped celery, garlic, onion, lemon juice, back pepper, simmered til vegetables soft and added some clams and mussels and (pealed) shrimp I found on sale. Cooked 'til clam and mussel shells open and shrimp were done - wonderful!! Barb > Barb, your recipe sounds delicious. Can't wait to try it and I will check the shared files for recipes. Thanks.
