that it wasn't encouraged to E-mail pics to this list (I am pretty new to this

acceptable, so I have attached one of Dana, my 6.5 mo daughter taken at Easter.

Stacey,

Under 6 months, no sunscreen just coverings and hats and shade.

Wendi

Re: Intro

no, thanks for the input! It was my understanding, tho, that babies under 6

mo of age have very thin skin and you shouldn't put sunscreen on them. I'm

taking her to the ped tomorrow and I'll ask him.

Sunny South Africa, where the sun even shines in winter! We are going into

winter only now so it's still pretty warm here.

Hi everyone,

My name is Jo and I am a SAHM. My daughter Micaela was born on March

4, 1999. Of course she is beautiful, as her mother I HAVE to say that.

I also have two other children, Hannah--8 and Caleb--3. I have breastfed

all of my children and am enjoying it again with this one, although I would

have to admit that she has been the hardest to feed--she likes to eat only

on one side--then refuses the other side--doesnt matter which one. I have

finally figured out that I can't let her nurse longer than 5 minutes on

the first side in order to get her to eat on the second--at least it works

for us and she is still going 3 hours between feedings.

Jo,

Welcome to the list. My son would only nurse on one side too. I would let him

and just make sure we did the other one the next time. It took him about 3

months to be able to stay awake until the second one. Congratulations!

Joan,

I will be 35 in May, and yes I found breastfeeding a lot different, I

think because I didn't know better, I let the doctor make me feel like

formula was better than breastfeeding... oh well live and learn..

Cute :) I think I will only " show " it, & put it in his baby book,

so maybe he will know what a hard time we all had to bf. Not that he

would care being a guy, but maybe his future wife would like to know...

Stevie,

Because they are completely ignorant and think that it will help you. They

think convenience is more important than optimal health.

I agree with you..I haven't done it. Why would a dr even suggest

something then if it's not good for him??

Stevie,

Maybe he will sway his future wife to breastfeed based on the stories of his

childhood. :D

> Congratulations Lou. You look fabulous. Glad to have you with

Thank you, dear!!!

I am glad to have made it to my year post op so fast..lol. Seems like

just yesterday!

I had a lady at work tell me today that I must not have much left to

lose. I said " Honey, I weigh 271! " She said " GET OUT!!! You and I are

the same height, and you can't weigh 71 pounds more than I do! "

Needless to say, that made my day...lol!

Monday a lady at my support group gave me a bunch of clothes. Size 20

pants and 22-24 shirts and sweaters. The shirts and sweaters fit great,

and even 2 pairs of the Size 20 pants are wearable!! It is amazing how

different we are shaped...that lady in work who talked to me weighs 200

and is the same height, and wears 16-18's! She told me at the rate I am

going, I will be in a size 12 when I weigh 200..yeah..and then I wake

up, right?? ROFLOL!!!

Sorry to ramble...I have a bad cold, and have been awake since 1:30 AM

and am a little punchy. =o)

Blessings and thanks for the welcome!

Lou

Hi all!

Since I celebrated my 1 year anniversary on Sunday, I decided to join

this list. Many of you will know me from the umpteen other WLS lists I

am on or run.

My name is Lou, and I am a 36 year old married woman from NJ. I

had open gastric bypass, modified Fobi pouch, with transected stomach

and silastic ring, distal, in NJ on Sept. 10, 1999. My friend and

surgeon is Dr. Greenbaum in Willingboro, NJ. As of Sat., I have

lost 259 pounds. I started at 530 pounds, and have a goal of weighing

185.

Can't wait to start sharing with other graduates!

Blessings,

Lou

Help, I've fallen and I can't... Hey, nice carpet!
