Vaginal discharge is very normal. It's purpose is to keep the vagina and

vulva moist and clean. It changes in color and consistency through the month.

At ovulation is more like egg whites - which makes it easier for sperm, think

of it as calm seas for them to swim in instead of rough waves.

Our discharge also changes as we get older and by the type of panties we

wear. I always had much more discharge with nylon panties than with cotton or

silk. The amount of discharge, consistency and color is also different with

every woman.

The ph in our vaginas changes through the month with our hormonal

fluctuations. Because we have vv/vvs - that ph change can also make our tissue

more

sensitive to our discharge and can cause itching and burning. Which does not

mean

we have an infection, just that the skin is more sensitive at times and finds

any irritant (including normal discharge) to be irritating. If you have done

anything recently to irritate the tissue - a bath, too much soap, douching, a

change in soap, sex, etc... the tissue might find your discharge annoying.

That said, you could also have a really mild yeast or bacterial infection.

But if you haven't done anything that cause result in an infection - it's more

than likely that your ph has made your vaginal tissue more irritable than

usual. You might want to buy some ph strips and compare the results when your

vagina is itching to when it isn't. If the itching/burning becomes worse, you

may want to see your doctor and have him test you for yeast or bacteria.

A watery milky discharge can be a sign of BV and, as has been

mentioned, does not always smell fishy. I, also, find that discharge

can be very irritating. If you haven't done so, you may want to see

your gyn and have it tested.

This is a guideline for vaginal discharge. Keep in mind we don't all

get the same symptoms though. I have had BV without the odor before.
