Guest guest
Carpal tunnel is a problem with one nerve- the brachial nerve where it comes thru the carpal tunnel in the wrist. It's the only nerve that comes through that channel. The nerve only enervates the thumb, forefinger and the lateral side of the middle finer. If the numbness extends any further than this, or doesn't significantly affect those fingers, then its not CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome). CTS causes numbness, tingling, sometimes burning, and an inability to grasp or effectively use the affected digits. If it is CTS, no other effect should be shown. If otrhers are, it could be two things: CTS plus something else, or most likely something else. Acupuncture has shown good results with CTS, as have steroid injections into the joint. Be slow to go to surgery, as the post op period gives you zero hand use for 4 to 6 weeks, maybe more. IF it is CTS, the surgery can be successful, but if its not, you could have a lot more trouble. Guest guest
There is a new procedure for carpal tunnel that uses larascopic surgery where the recovery time has been reduced to days. I had both hands done over 10 years ago, I waited so long that my nerve was flattened. Anyway that is what they told me at the time. Yes, it is weeks of recouperating, I worked through most of it, but the hand is in a cast for several weeks.
