Side effect of Metformin on me is also diarrhea. After a while it goes

away, but if I stop for a while or increase the dosage then it comes

back for a while until I get used to it again.

Dr. mentioned the possibility of such diarrhea that I quizzed if I'd

have to kick him out of bed. We had a good laugh. Dr. also said there

might be a possibility of adding a little insulin to the Glucophage if

necessary. Or he may just plain have to go on insulin. He's to keep

good track of the BS reading for the next few weeks and fax info to Dr.

office. Time will tell.

I had diarrha when I started on 500 mg. twice a day, but it passed.

Not a big deal in my experience.

I'm also on Metformin. No diarrhea, though. Quite the opposite, in fact. But

I do notice some things that don't normally bother me are causing cramps,

nausea and gas. I'm hoping this effect will die down shortly since I've only

been on the stuff a couple of weeks.

I first had diarrhea on Metformin, then constipation, then it all

passed. Feel fine on it now.

Amber,

If I was seeing numbers like that, I'd get on insulin in a hurry.

It's not at all uncommon for people to use insulin for a while while

getting under control, then be able to stop again. Those are

dangerously high numbers.
