Guest guest
Are gallstones more common in Diabetics??? This past year while i was pregnant i had excruciating upper back pain with vomiting, pain when breathing and a low grade fever. It coniued after i had in June as well. I went to the emergency room several times and they could never figure out what was causing the pain. Then i had a similiar pain in my lower back which was determined to be a large kidney stone. Now 5 months later the upper back pain is back and stronger than ever, i finaly did research and found i had all the symptoms of gallstones. An ultrasound a few days ago confirmed that i have so many gallstones my gallbladder looked like a solid mass. Are such troubles common in Diabetics?? What i've read online did say those who are diabetic and have gallbladder problems should have the gallbladder removed versus just the stones. Has anyone else here had their gallbladder removed? Was it outpatient surgery or did you stay overnight??? I can't see the surgeon until Wednesday so i get to sit at home taking Lortab for the pain until then! Guest guest
Hi , I've had my galbladder out because of cholestrol polyps.I've also had 2 severe pancreas attacks & one kidney stone broken up with the sonic waves & passed through the urine. The pancreas hurt in the upper abdomen tremendously & I had to be taken to E.R. The stone in the kidney just ached, low pain in the back. I think everyone has these things, not just diabetics. However, it could be more frequent for diabetics. I'm T-2. My gallbladder removal was supposed to be outpatient, but; I couldn't pass the gas that that they air you up with, so; I spent one night in the hospital. G. Are gallstones more common in Diabetics??? Guest guest
I recently had a gallbladder ultrasound because the dr. thought gallstones could be imitating some heart symptoms I experience. It was negative. But, I did learn it could be that you had one or more sharp drops in weight where too little fat was flowing through the gall. The gall needs some regular fat (10 gms in a meal) to make the gallbladder contract and prevent stones from forming. Another thing I learned is that they have two procedures for removing the gall bladder and you want the NEWER one (called Laparoscopy I think), in which they DON'T make the long, deep incision so you won't be hung up as long with a painful time in the hospital.
