Guest guest
Lenore, I found several really decent email loops on Onelist and landed on one that I have continued to keep up with (Aug99onelist) on my other email account. You might surf through the Health section or do a search for " pregnancy " ... I started feeling symptoms of pgcy probably 1 week post-conception, although I didn't know for certain until 3 weeks. I felt INCREDIBLY sleepy... so sleepy I could hardly stay awake at work... and INCREDIBLY gripy... so gripy I thought I was losing my mind (I caught myself actually *screaming* at my daughters, then felt so horribly guilty afterwards I cried and asked my Bible study group to pray for me). I didn't really feel ravenously hungry, per se, but I know that that can happen to some. OH... and my boobies hurt so much I could hardly stand to walk around because the slightest breeze felt like sandpaper! Of course, my boobies hurt during my menstrual cycle, too, so it didn't tip me off right away. What tipped me off was that they didn't STOP hurting a day or two later... just got worse... didn't get better until about four months pg. -Kris who is absolutely smitten with her wee man-cub

Guest guest
Oh and I am hungry lately more so than usual and want to be careful that I am not not eating more for no good reason. I have been adding small preotein snacks. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry this took so long to get back to you---I've been camping with my husband and family this past week and weekend. Great time! I had no problems right after my delivery with my second child. I would say it was about 4 or 5 weeks after delivery when I noticed the tenderness on the outer ear bone. It(soreness) continually got worse, so bad that I couldn't even lay on that side, then it would switch from ear to ear. I went to so many docs that it wasn't even funny. Finally went to an internist that many of our family members went to and he said that he suspected this disease. I was scheduled to go in for a biopsy and then that very weekend of the appointment my symptoms peaked and I ended up in the ER and they did the biopsy on an emergency basis. My hospital stay was about 9 days with IV going constantly with prednisone and shots as well. When I left the hospital, I took a round of pred and it took months longer for all of the soreness and swelling to go away. As i mentioned my 3rd pregnancy I was being treated by my rhemy and made it through my 4th month. My symptoms then were soreness in the bridge of my nose and just didn't feel right. The baby died and I didn't even know it. Discovered this when I went for an ultrasound. Guess as someone else said, our bodies attack this as something foreign in our system. Hope all is well with you and please feel free to ask me any questions. how many children do you have? I have the two, now 23 and 21, Im so thankful for them. Love, Christy

Guest guest
, Sounds too familiar. Sometimes I think about how sure they were that Abby would die and that we should terminate. I remember bringing it up with my OB (who I love) and telling her what the perinatologists had said. She said the chances weren't good from what she could see and that the only reason she'd do it is because pregnancy it so hard on my body and why do through that if I wouldn't have a " viable " baby. She said I had until 24 weeks to decide and that I wouldn't have to go through labor like with my first. I asked her if she was 100% certain that Abby wouldn't live, she said " no " and I said " then I can't do it-she might make it " . I wonder what conversations went with the perinatologists and my OB after Abby was born just fine, if any. Makes me want to cry too. I mean, what would I ever do without Abby? I can't imagine. Danna, I'm so sorry your sister had to go through that. They put me into labor with my first too. She'd died sometime between the Monday before when we heard her heartbeat at the OB and the Monday we went into the perinatologist for an u/s. He recommended inducing w/ a vag delivery because they wanted to be able to do an autopsy to see why she died and why she was so small. Never did get any answers. Anyway, they had me on pitocin for about 5 days, some labor cramping, vomiting, generally feeling sick until my body finally shut down and my kidneys looked bad. After 7 days and dilating only to 2, they put me out and did a D & C. I truly believe that I willed myself not to go into full labor because I didn't want that experience. The only thing about a D & C is that I didn't get to hold her, but I did get pictures and her hat. My friend who lost her twin girls at about the same time, held them and I think it helped with closure. I know how tough that was/is for your sister. Its wonderful to have another child and I feel very lucky, but you never get over losing a child. One doesn't replace the other. I like to think that some part of her spirit is in Abby and maybe that's why Abby is so strong. Kathleen (Mom to Abby--15 mos, 12 lbs. 8 oz, 26 1/4 in.
