Guest guest
Hello All: I am nearing the end of my 2nd month of taking LDN, and have noticed no improvements. I started off with 3.0 mg and moved up to 4.5 mg under my neurologist's supervision. I do not have MS, rather CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease: a hereditary demyelinating, atrophying neuro-muscular disorder, affecting primarily peripheral/peroneal nerves & muscles; under the Muscular Dystrophy Association umbrella). I walk with a cane and have AFO's for both legs. Over the years (I'm 42) I have had extreme muscle loss in my legs and experience severe fatigue , as well as persistent chronic pain in my left leg, neck and back. It affects many other areas of my body, including my hands and arms, as well. I do seem to have a weak immune system, too, but I'm very germ concious. I was so excited after learing about LDN and doing my research on it, for it sounded so promising. I thought if people with MS could see and feel such dramatic results in such a seemingly short time, SURELY it would work on CMT. Even thought CMT is not known (yet?) to be an auto-immune disease, the fact that it's primary modus operandi is demyelinating the sheath around the nerves, causing muscular atrophy, I thought this may be the "miracle drug" we've been looking for. I am losing hope, though. I completely stopped taking hydrocodone/Lortab for my severe pain before I started the LDN. The pain really interferes with my life, but I really wanted to give LDN a chance. I feel I am starting to slip into depression again, too, though I do take an anti-depressant. I have had no improvement in energy levels whatsoever, which I thought would at leaset be something that may occur due to the "...increase in endorphin and enkephalin production...". Granted, I have not had a cold or gotten sick in these 2 months, but I am very germ-cautious always carrying and using Purell. Is it possible the LDN is working at a cellular level, and I am just not aware of its benefits yet? Or, is 2 months plenty of time for LDN to have shown me some sort of noticeable improvement IF is it was going to work for me? I do not want to give up, but I feel like something good should be happening to me due to LDN by now. AM I WRONG? SHOULD I STOP OR CONTINUE? HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I GIVE LDN, if I do continue??? I'm at a loss. Please help. Any and all words of advice/knowledge will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so very much.
