Guest guest
Exactly. IMNSHO, this is sheer idiocy. Re: Re:ADA They go out of their way to say you can eat everything you did before, just watch your portions. As it is clear our cohort is not the athletic type, i am not sure how well this message will be followed :-) The idea seems to be not to challenge, not to put off, not to go into details, not to scare. Testing is not emphasized.

Guest guest
Bruce, where are you getting this from? I doubt a bit that the ADA is against us taking care of ourselves. If we dont, we will die earlier and then what will they do? Now the only way to put them out of business, or at least slow then down, is to get a cure for diabetes. But until then, the ADA is still making money and helping us by sending out information that we are subscribed to. Its the pharmaceutical companies that want us and the rest of us to take prescription drugs adn even OTC ones. That is why so many insurance companies (not to mention government health-care programs, such as the VA and Medicare/Medicaid) limit the number of strips a patient can use; they are following the ADA's 'party line'. The ADA would rather have us take drugs than to control our BS through diet and exercise. Why? Well, look from whence come most of the ADA's funding--from the drug companies. There have been several articles in DIABETES INTERVIEW discussing this. *
