Guest guest
It's a great idea to answer frequent questions in a welcome letter. However, low dose naltrexone is for ANYONE with an interest in LDN - For any reason. Success stories are wonderful and encouraging, but we need to hear when it's not. This is where anyone not doing well on LDN should be able come for help. Do you remember when you first heard of LDN? I do. I was anxious, hopeful, skeptical, unfamiliar with the whole " blog thing " , turned down by my doctors and looking for information and help on my own. Yes, we want people to be polite and courteous. Period. However, we do not want to come off as " click-ish " , The more diversified our group is, the more resources we have. Imagine a news reporter with a curiosity in something he had heard of - LDN. Imagine the general public becoming aware of something low- cost, seemingly effective, yet sqashed by the whole pharma, doctor, money and greed thing. Can you imagine the PUBLIC outcry? I bet we would get a study then! Also, not being owners of this site, we must be careful not to put limitations that the owner, Dr. Gluck has not intended. A welcome pack to point them in the direction of the information that is already available is a great idea, but there are no stupid questions. Your letter is well written and you have a good idea. Can it be " tweeked " ? > > Hi all, > > Have just read through a few of the digest emails (collectively grouped > emails) and now have a reasonable idea of what could be causing a few > communication hiccups. > > This is just a thought, but it may be worthwhile to create an LDN group > welcome email for new members. Guest guest
Looks good to me too! WELL DONE, Cris! Rae [low dose naltrexone] LDN GROUP GUIDE? - please add your thoughts/ideas Hi all, Have just read through a few of the digest emails (collectively grouped emails) and now have a reasonable idea of what could be causing a few communication hiccups. This is just a thought, but it may be worthwhile to create an LDN group welcome email for new members. I know you already do a welcome pack Aletha, and I'm sure it's comprehensive. I just feel a quick welcome email like the one below could help. It would certainly help those seeking clarification on LDN, and may help relieve some of the pressure from those who already contribute a great deal of time helping others. EVERYONE - please add your thoughts/ideas/changes. If everyone agrees to the content, then perhaps the first to respond to a new member could add it to their response. Regards, Cris ----------------------------------------------- Guide for NEW LDN GROUP Members: This group consists primarily of those who've had personal success since taking Low Doses of Naltrexone (LDN) for various disorders - others are here because LDN has been successful for their family or friends. Collectively, we are simply a group of like-minded people who were lucky to hear of LDN, who want to make the path a little easier for others than it was for us, and who try to support each other in our quest for improved health. Experience has taught us that new members often have lots of questions. That's understandable, but as none of us enjoy optimum health (yet), we'd appreciate it if you'd visit the www.low dose naltrexone.org website FIRST to read all the content. It will not only help you but will also help us - and would be sincerely appreciated ... because the more you know and understand, the less time we need to spend in responding to similar questions. Other than that, we ask only that your contribution is courteous and respectful so we can all benefit from this association. We understand tempers can be a little short under the influence of pain but hope you'll agree that's no justification for upsetting others, especially those whose only reason for being here is to help. A warm welcome to our group. We sincerely hope you too will benefit from LDN. PS Please refer to the following Member Tips when you want to change your membership preferences such as email settings: To modify your member preferences go to low dose naltrexone/ and select 'sign in'. After you've 'signed in', select 'edit membership' at the top of the page. This will access your membership page where you can change your preferences: a) To STOP RECEIVING EMAILS ... Under 'Message Delivery' select 'Web Only - Don't get notified of the latest happenings. Read messages only on the web.' To REDUCE the NUMBER OF EMAILS you receive... Under 'Message Delivery', select 'Daily Digest' (this groups multiple emails into a single email to reduce the volume). c) To LEAVE the GROUP ... Select 'Leave Group' in the bottom right-hand corner. After any change, select 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page. You'll be taken to a page with the message 'Your membership has been updated'. Select 'Sign Out' to exit. Guest guest
- Hi All, Would it be a good idea to set the Welcome packet up like a guide book? Table of contents, FAQ's, links to other disorders ldn is used for, etc., perhaps links to previous discussions on a subject, ldn doc. list, candida test and tx, an all in one intro. to help cut down on the inevitable repetition that comes with being new or just having forgotten? Could it be available at the sign up page? Gigi -- In low dose naltrexone , " Rae & Doug Bower " <radbower@...> wrote: > > Looks good to me too! Guest guest
Hi Gigi, That is an excellent idea. I presented something close to it a number of months ago but I have not had any time to work on it. I have many saved chats regarding different issues that we could put in for different topics as solutions that different chatters have come up with. It would save time and we could keep adding to it as new things come up. It could be a work in progress always. As it should be. If someone else has more time, I can send them what I have saved and they could filter through it. Guest guest
Guidelines sound like a wonderful idea. Might be good to add a paragraph about when someone replies to a msg they should just quote part of the msg, not all of it and all the previous msgs in the same thread. I have noticed many of the msgs are so very long. This might eventually cause a problem with storage on , as I am sure there is some type of limit size of storage they permit. If there is a storage limit, which I am sure there is, might start deleting the archives of LDN group and much would be lost. Then when someone searched for past msgs on a topic, there would be a lot missing. When replying to a msg, I many times will copy the portion I want to include in my reply, then I click on the reply "button". In the blank msg space I paste what I have copied and add arrows to indicate quoted msg. Or, if when you hit reply the whole msg is there, you can highlight it all and then paste on that what you have copied. Then I write my reply above the pasted material. That is what I did here. There are other ways to do this. But, deleting some of the old msg/msgs should be done. Deleting parts of msgs also makes for easier reading of list mail. Guest guest
Hi Gigi, A collaborative effort sounds wonderful. I know how you fee about the computer. I know some things but they are very rudimentary. Nothing fancy here. I think we need to combine together the new Group Guide from the Welcome e-mail and a solutions to specific problems page. When I have more time I will try and put together the solutions stuff. Or maybe is right and we can just have the group guide at the beginning for those that join the site, then we could somehow have the other two posted for people to download from the site. I don't know how to implement any of this, so hopefully someone that does would not mind stepping in. I'll help with what ever I can. Guest guest
I know it's only been one year, but I don't remember how I ended up here! I don't know if anyone else can say the same but I was overwhelmed with information, illness, doctors, blah, blah. I'm sure there must be others who feel the same. That's why I thought a Greeting/guidebook without being sappy would help sort out some of the franticness felt in the beginning of ones search of answers. What do you think? Sorry for misspelled words, paid med today and I'm a bit loopy. - Thanks, Gigi -- In low dose naltrexone , " Aletha Wittmann " <Aletha@...> wrote: > > Hi Gigi, > > A collaborative effort sounds wonderful. Guest guest
I think it's a great idea. Questions will always be asked, but a little guidance up front may take some of the mystery out of it. > > I know it's only been one year, but I don't remember how I ended up > here! I have slightly modified it for our purposes. Perhaps it too, or something similar, can be incorporated into the Welcome Email? -- Special Notice: Group Etiquette Dear LDN Group members, Thank you for participating in our dynamic, growing discussion group about Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)! The purpose of this message is to underscore a few principles that we consider important as the group grows in size: 1) Message volume to the group has increased sharply recently. Two thoughts on this: a. When writing e-mail, please keep the number of messages you address to the entire LDN group to a minimum. If you are responding to a single person, please do not send your reply to the entire LDN group unless there is a very important reason to do so. b. If you would prefer not to receive so much e-mail from the LDN group, click on Edit Membership on the top left hand side of the page (you will need to log in first) -- and change your Message Delivery option to either " Daily Digest " (to receive no more than one e-mail per day, containing all the messages sent to the group that day), or " Special Notices " (to receive only special notices from the moderator, such as this message, as well as future messages announcing updates to the LDN website). 2) has a very strict policy about spam: Members may not use the service to send unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, spam, chain letters, multilevel/pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation. For this reason, some members have been banned from the group. 3) It is not acceptable for members to write to other members claiming that they are the group moderator. If anyone writes to you claiming to be the group moderatoror owner, please forward the message to email@ low dose naltrexone.org for verification. (tighten up space between @ and low dose naltrexone.org before sending) 4) The LDN group was set up by the LDN website editors to allow a free dialogue to occur among those interested in LDN and its use. Unless pressed, it is not our intention to screen messages to the LDN group or censor them in any way. We ask that group members take responsibility for what they post to the group. Thank you for your kind attention, LDN Website Editors email@ low dose naltrexone.org (tighten up space between @ and low dose naltrexone.org before sending)
