When first lowering your blood sugars you might get low sugar symptoms.

You might just be feeling it more, or you might actually be feeling the

normal setting in and your not used to it. You can hope. I went from

full loss of feeling to near the hip to just some loss in the foot.

At the pharmacy, in the diabetic section, I've seen foot creams

specifically for diabetics. I've never tried them. You might even be

able to find it in a well stocked store like Safeway.

So have we all. And questions like yours help us learn more.

It's quite common when you first start treatment for diabetes that

lower BG numbers feel like low blood sugar even if they aren't. That

will improve.

With the neuropathy, the increased pain is usually a good sign - a

sign that your nerves are healing. Ointments with Capsazin (sp?) in

them help some people with the pain.

Hi Shar-

I lost it in a 3-pronged attack.

I cut my overall calories from 2400+ per day to ~800 per day. I cut 90% of

the fat, carbs and sodium from my former diet. And exercise.

Mind you I don't recommend the type of exercise I had over the summer.

Bicycled 4 miles per day (Not too bad) and spent the last 4 months clearing

3 acres AND a 450 foot driveway through a heavy woods AND removed all the

boulders - with only a chain-saw, an old Ford tractor and my decrepit body.

I don't move so good now :-) I expect not to lose like that now that fall

and winter are coming...
