Guest guest
> " I was wondering if taking zinc orally also helps? " No. Actually, I think that this varies from person to person. From what I've read, there is a good chance that people with our condition are deficient in zinc as well as some other essential nutrients and taking them can be quite beneficial. I take zinc as well as vit's A, E, B complex, selenium, Evening Primrose Oil, Salmon Oil (Essential Fatty Acids, usually deficient in people with skin problems) etc... As long as you take reasonable doses it won't hurt you, and it may even help. Metrogel has helped me too, but I think Desitin helps more. A good place to find a list of supplements which are supposed to help with rosacea is Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch (MD) and Balch. This book contains invaluable info for treating all kinds of conditions including varicose veins and thrombophlebitis-it's an excellent investment! Guest guest
Hello , I use " City Block " from Clinique . It has SPF 15 and is a non-chemical sunscreen (titanium dioxide in it) so it is milder for the skin. It has a flesh tone , so it doesn't make a " white face " . I use it over my moisturizer. If you live in U.S.A. you also have " Super City Block " SPF 30 from Clinique. It is a new product, and here in Canada, we don't have it yet. (( (only next spring ... I asked to the company). I hope this helps, bye, Francine julieway@... a écrit : > Can anyone recommend a good, non- > comedogenic sunscreen?

Guest guest
<< I am also new to the list. My name is Spagner and I live in Vallejo, CA. My surgeon will be Dr. Rabkin and my insurance co. is Aetna. >> Count me in! Hello - my name is Chin. I'm new, also. I have my initial consult with Dr. Gagner, Mt. Sinai, NYC on Nov 15 (couldn't get in any earlier LOL). From my research, I'm heavily leaning towards the d/s surgery (done laparoscopically by Dr. Gagner). My insurance is Oxford Freedom. I have a bmi of 49.0 (ouch!) and am the 5'9 " mom of two wonderful kids - ages 4 and 1 1/2. I can't believe that it is quite difficult to get full info on this surgery. It appears that, since it is not performed as often here in the US, many sources think that a brief mention of it's existence is sufficient? Any long-term d/sers -- have you experienced massive malapsorption problems? Are daily vitamins usually sufficient? This seems to be the only 'drawback' mentioned, besides abdominal bloating and nasty bms. I suffer from intermittent irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)/spastic colon. This condition wouldn't interfere with the surgery, would it? Thanks so much and nice to meet everyone! all the best,

Guest guest
Hi , You might be one of the people was referring too. Makes no sense that one should be covered and another should not. I have Aetna POS and it does say this is NOT covered in the Aetna web site. I do not have an HMO. Mine is managed care. I am changing to PPO this month though. When is your surgery and when were you approved. Thanks for the warm welcome... Guest guest
Hi , Welcome I am scheduled for a DS with Dr Rabkin thru Aetna PPO. It depends more on your policy that your actual insurance company. Some Aetna will cover it, there might be some that don't. I was told that the HMO would not so we switched during open enrollment last Nov to the PPO plan to inprove the chance of approval. You need to cjheck your policy to find out. Hope to see you at the meeting Thursday night. Regards, > Hi, > > My name is Spagner and I am new to the list. I am in the > process of being approved to have the procedure with Dr. Rabkin. I am 5'8 and currently weigh 153, my goal is 128 (which I weighed last summer, but then I put the weight back on AGAIN).Well, thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to get to know you!!Nina
Guest guest
Jen please feel free to share your stories becaause the whole group benefits from them. I understand being scared to try IE because I spent a long time reading posts on this group and asking questions before I decided to actually try and do it. Maybe it would be easier for you to try one principle at a time like for example try to discover your hunger signals first and then move on to the next step until your body adjusts to IE I know a lot of group members have advised others that it worked for them when they started IE. Eva Hi everyone My name is Jen. I'm new here.I've been reading the messages here for a while and I must admit it seems like a dreamland to not have to obsess about eating. I really can't remember a time in my life that I haven't been trying to lose weight. I remember being 8 years old and realizing that I was chubby, and looked different from most of the other kids. My brother made sure that I never forgot this fact telling me that I was fat, ugly, stupid, etc. So, fast foward to now at 30 years old, and I still see that in the mirror. I told myself at the beginning of the year that I would do Weight Watchers one last time and be done with this once and for all. And somehow I sit here heavier than I was 3 weeks ago. Dieting doesn't work for me and it's frustrating to read all the success stories of how it is supposed to work. I've known about Intuitive Eating for a while. I'm just so scared to trust the process. I'm having a problem committing to it because it just sounds too good to be true. And I've been dieting so long, I honestly am not even sure how to tell if I'm hungry or not anymore. I feel scared to eat, scared to not be on a diet. I'm just so tired of beating myself up for my dieting failures. I just want to learn how to trust myself with food. Thanks for reading. I know this turned into a bit of a ramble I just needed to get it out. And if anybody has any words of wisdom, I'd love to hear them.Have a nice evening,Jen ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi, Jen & All, I am new here, too. Aside from the fact that I am 25 years older than you, you've just told my story. We even have the same brother!!!!! I am so sick to death of dieting. I didn't realize how crazy I was until I counted all the diet books on my bookshelf, many still unread. Several years ago, I took a 10 week workshop on IE and also worked privately with the dietitian that gave it. My one main problem is that I am diabetic and still need to watch my carb intake, so getting past the diet mentality is still a challenge. She really didn't have any answers for me pertaining to IE and diabetes so I just gave up. I have come to believe that I can do this now, but need all the support I can get and hopefully can help others on this quest. All the best, in Atlanta Hi everyone My name is Jen. Guest guest
Welcome Jen, Yes IE sounds like a dream one wants to come true - but its very real too. I have found lots of great support here and learned that the 'time' this takes isn't as torturous as that spend dieting!! And wouldn't you really prefer to eat for YOUR LIFE in a content and sane feeling way forever too? Glad to have you join us and looking forward to your posts as you travel your IE journey.
