Guest guest
I think I would have her do a biopsy of the pale white area. Could be VIN or (not to scare you) vulva cancer. I had vulva cancer and some of the areas did turn a grayish/white area. It could be many things, but I would ask about that. CJ So tired of the constant burning and irritation...please help I am new have been dealing w/ raw, burning, vulva area for about 18 months now..I have been to my ob/gyn and several dermatologist..I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and have been suffering the whole time..I hate to wipe because my vulva always burns..I never itch..I finally begged the last dermatologist I saw to do a biopsy and she did but she biopsied an area that didn't bother me..it showed I had unspecified inflammation and my ob/gyn now says (after months of telling me there was nothing wrong) that the area around my urethra is turning a pale white..Since I am pregnant I can't really treat anything now, so I've been using aloe gel, A & d ointment, ice etc..does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on w/ me..also I notice my labia is very wrinkled and dry and shiney..*****END OF MESSAGE/REMOVE WHEN REPLYING*****http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VulvarDisordersto search our archive or view our files.***
Guest guest
I remember as my pregnancy went along and the closer I was to delivery the more inflamed I was and the more painful it was. I believe it is because of the extra pressure and blood flow in that area. I would recommend a couple of things: Emu oil to soften and lubricate, estrace cream to thicken skin (apply right on labia forget the tube), and PT/biofeedback. Pt will help you have stronger pelvic muscles and if the culprit is a pinched nerve could relieve you of that also. I wish I could offer more, it's hard to think of the bundle of joy when your in pain constantly. Mine is now 9 years old and is a pain in other ways. Ask to have the white spot biopsied. LS takes on a characteristic white appearance. Has that possibility been mentioned? The change in hormones, due to pregency, may be the culprit for that and the dry wrinkled shiney labia. It is up to you to demand answers. You will soon be bringing a precious life into the world and you need to get a handle on this. You are in my thoughts and I hope you get some answers and relief soon! Guest guest
Your symptoms sound very much like vulvar atrophy. I had this and the burning pain was incredible, and like you I never itched. The Estrace cream on the vulva and around the urethra may well help with this problem, but it will be slow going because in all liklihood this will burn as well. Have you been evaluated for Strep B? Isn't this the " common " vaginal infection of pregnant women? Suspect allergies, food, chemical etc. and avoid (like the plague) any soaps in this area, as well as allowing any shampoo residue to run down your body into this area. I was extremely allergic to soaps and shampoos, one shampoo in particular, when I was tested for three days on my arms, actually split the skin under the test bandage! Since you didn't get like this overnight, it isn't going to go away quickly - you will have to perservere. Read as much as you can and try eliminating as many chemicals as possible including dyes in your personal care products and your foods. Good luck Dusty So tired of the constant burning and irritation...please help I am new have been dealing w/ raw, burning, vulva area for about 18 months now..I have been to my ob/gyn and several dermatologist..I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and have been suffering the whole time..I hate to wipe because my vulva always burns..I never itch..I finally begged the last dermatologist I saw to do a biopsy and she did but she biopsied an area that didn't bother me..it showed I had unspecified inflammation and my ob/gyn now says (after months of telling me there was nothing wrong) that the area around my urethra is turning a pale white..Since I am pregnant I can't really treat anything now, so I've been using aloe gel, A & d ointment, ice etc..does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on w/ me..also I notice my labia is very wrinkled and dry and shiney.. *****END OF MESSAGE/REMOVE WHEN REPLYING***** http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VulvarDisorders to search our archive or view our files. ***
