Guest guest
I put a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon in my morning oatmeal. I know a lot of people can't eat oatmeal, but I just have 1/4 cup instant oatmeal, 3 T bran flakes, 1 heaping t cinnamon and 1 cup water. My bg used to be higher when I used 1/2 cup oatmeal. By cutting it in half and filling it in with bran flakes, it's been a lot better. Hi Lee, We have several members that use flaxseed to help control bg's. I'm sure they will reply to your message, but if not, you can go to the diabetes archives and do a search on 'flax seed' and read the previous messages. I use cinnamon in my oatmeal, but do not see any difference on those days I do not use it. I'm sure that it does work for others, though. Guest guest
It does seem to help me, I, like Eunice, use it in my oatmeal in the a.m. but coffee seems to help me as well...did anyone mention coffee as a way to help bg? I tried flaxseed, but not long enough to find out if it works...will probably try it again when I can. Tam

Hi Tam, I received a newsletter tonight about coffee and diabetes. If I've still got it will forward it to the group. I don't know if it lowers bg's. This morning my fbg was 85. I had 2 cups of coffee with about 1/4 cup of milk in each cup. I was drinking this while on the computer so it took me awhile to drink it. I tested 2 1/2 hrs later and bg's were 87. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
Teas also work well for lowering your bg's.
