Guest guest
I don't want to wear a bracelet all the time, do emergency people check our wallets for that kind of info. You have me thinking about this, plus I am allegic to penicillian and sulfa drugs. Kathy
Guest guest
Just wondering how many of you feel these medical bracelets/medallions are necessary and if you have purchased one. Would love to hear your thoughts! Medic Alert Bracelets for WLS people Here are my suggestions: Medic Alert bracelets are a good idea for weight loss surgery people for life since our pouches could be punctured if we are rendered unconscious or mute and need emergency medical care and our surgery is unknown to an ER doctor or paramedic. There are many sites out there that sell the beaded Medi Alert bracelets but an ER doctor friend advises NOT to jazz up a medic alert bracelet, lest a paramedic overlook it as costume jewelry rather than the purpose intended. A good idea might be wear one as a medallion around the neck and also keeping a Medic Alert card attached to your drivers license, passport or primary picture ID. www.medicalert.org/home/homegradient.aspx www.laurenshope.com/ www.medicassist.com/ www.gastricbypassfamily.com/MedicalAlertCards.html Lots of choices! Engraving suggestions: Your Name Roux-en-Y [GBS/WLS] No Blind NG Tube Use Endoscopy No NSAIDS Allergies
Guest guest
My doctor made sure I purchased one and had it inscribed with " NO NG TUBE - RNY GB " . I also carry a card that states I had RNY GB and the date and his name and phone number on it. I never leave home without them. Alice " R.D. Guest guest
If you are in a car wreck and the ambulance pulls up they are not going to check your wallet for this sort of info. All they are worried about is treating you as fast as possible & getting you to the hospital. Unless you or someone you are with are alert & can tell them or you have a medic alert bracelet they may not know. Guest guest
I have a medic alert because I talk with a local EMT & Parmendic and they said do not get the fancy alerts because they are not the real thing. What if you are not able to talk and nobody around to explain what happened to you and that your has Gastric Bypass surgery. they would start working on you and they did something that normal for a normal person but you ended up in major medical code red. I will not ever take mine off because my life depends on it. It depends do you want to live or die?? Think safety fitst! I hope this helps.
