Guest guest Posted June 24, 2009 Report Share Posted June 24, 2009 Hello Everyone, I was wondering if there is anyone here who has an 11 year old or 12 year old in Middle School who is happy with their district and school. I am looking for someone who has a son whos needs are simular to miine. My 11 year old is PDD Autistic and is quite verbal and understands life in a simple way. He is social, very loving, and cooperative. He is in a special program within a regular Middle School. He mainstreams into the self contained, and into regular classes for specials. He is also in regular gym. However, his academics are modified to his level. He can process paragraphs and work as long as its simple. He is very low in math, but works well with the smart board used in the classroom, and in very small group teaching. He also learns better one on one and does have an aide for that purpose. Where in Florida would I find a school like this. Im looking I think in Palm Beach area... but will go where the best fit is. Thank you all again, for your help. I always felt they were all too willing to skate my child through the system. I took it unto my own hands, not willing to let him fall through the cracks. We homeschool now for the last few years. I cannot tell you how much progress he made with all the "one on one" from mama! :-).Blessings and Best of Luck finding an appropriate placement.
