Hi Tracie, We have friends that are doing that now. They bought a boat about 3 yrs ago and that is where they are living. The last message we had from them they were in Venezuela. Another couple sold their house and bought a RV. They live in that full time. I don't think I would enjoy either of these. I like to travel, but I want a home to come back to. hugs Eunice

My folks went the RV route. We call them " geriatric gypsies. " My father is 85 years old, and was just diagnosed with diabetes last month. His mother apparently had diabetes, but she died from complications way back in 1937, long before I was born. And here I thought the diabetes had skipped a generation and settled on ME. Guest guest
My parents considered that, but Father crunched some numbers and figured that with the cost of fuel, maintenance, insurance, etc. that it would cost less to stay in motels and eat in restaurants. I believe my folks chose the RV route because they think hotel rooms are dirty and don't like the idea of sleeping in a bed that someone else has used. That's just their little quirk. Also, they believe they can regulate and control what they eat better if they prepare it themselves, particularly now that my father has diabetes. I'm not real adept at preparing meals in a kitchen area the size of a postage stamp. It's something I struggle with in the tiny galley of our boat. I find it easier to eat properly by making careful choices from a restaurant menu. Tracie
