Guest guest
I've noticed that my BG is high in the mornings...not first thing when I get up (5:30) but just before breakfast and then high most of the morning. Example...at 7:15 this morning, BG was 170, 2 hrs after breakfast it was 191, 2 hrs after lunch (about 2 pm) it was 107. What's up with that? Is it the " dawn phenomenon? " What can you do to get it down? Breakfast is usually 4 oz of orange juice (I need calcium and I think OJ is supposed to be good for your heart) and 1 serving of oatmeal with cinnamon and flax. I'm trying to get cholesterol down as well as BG and blood pressure so don't want to eat bacon, etc. Annie...diagnosed last month suggestions for lowcarb breakfasts I need some suggestions for low carb breakfasts. Anything over 15g of carbs seems to up my sugar. I'm also wanting to give 14 mo baby higher protein breakfasts, but she can't have dairy (like cottage cheese). Any thoughts other than bacon/eggs/sausage? Guest guest
Nothing is wrong with it, other than I swell, lol. Can't get my rings off after eating bacon/ham. I guess I hate to give my little one the same food every day, I'd like to offer her some variety. But, I have been giving her some oatmeal, I just can't eat oatmeal. I'm wanting to train my girls not to depend on typical breakfast foods because of family history of diabetes and all the breakfast foods seem to be full of carbs/sugar. I figure if I bring them up the way they should go... :-) Debi > And what's wrong with bacon/eggs/sausage? There are so many ways to cook eggs, and so many kinds/flavors of sausage that one can hardly become bored. But if you want something different, how about ham? > > Too expensive for everyday, but now and again how about steak for breakfast? > >
Guest guest
She's 14 mos and I think she's developing some food allergies. She's had 3 ear infections in the past 2 mos, the same time I started giving her dairy on a regular basis. I've eliminated most of that, but the runny nose continues. Might be passing, but my middle child has food issues, so I'm not wanting to chance anything. Most dietary advice says if food allergies are possible, to rotate foods every few days, can lessen the chances of developing new allergies. Debi > > And what's wrong with bacon/eggs/sausage? Guest guest
Lowfat cheese has more carbs than the regular stuff. I've never heard of Moriingstar. Where does one get it? Guest guest
Eunice, Do you ever eat just yogurt for breakfast? I'll have to check out the ones with Splenda your mentioning.
