Get him to write you a script. Dividing a pill that many times you will have powder and each piece probably a different amount of medicine. I can't believe he told you to do that. And to divide a capsule 10 times seems next to impossible. I was told not to try to divide a capsule in half. Have him let you get it compounded.

-- [low dose naltrexone] Re: LDN, CFS, Sleep and dosing

Hi,I'm thinking of trying LDN again, having read some posts where people said it improved their sleep. I've had ME/CFS for 15 years and the first year I too LDN and recovered for a year before relapsing. Tried again, but no effect. Since, the last time I tried, my sleep's deteriorated badly, mucho non-restorative sleep. My current doctor wants me to get one 50mg tablet? or capsule and divide it up. I seem to remember I was able to get 5mg capsules years ago. Should I be after my doc to order it from a compounding pharmacy? Dviding a capsule or tablet by ten seems pretty difficult. Also, if anyone here with CFS has had improved sleep (or not) with LDN, I'd appreciate hearing about your experience. I've run through about every option I can think of. My doctor's out of ideas, too; I suggested LDN to him. Thanks, michael

I know we have some people on the list with ME/CFS. I know that not having good sleep is debilitating but I'm not sure of the answer. I can address the compounding issue. The webpage page www.low dose naltrexone.org there is a list of approved compounding pharmacies.  I think its important to have the stuff made correctly  especially if you have a doctor who is willing to give you a prescription. Because you will be getting pure naltrexone powder and a filler as opposed to all the things that have to go into making tablet. JMHO having said that and getting back to your sleep which is , if you could solve that problem you would probably feel a whole lot better. I would suggest tryptophan I would make sure that it doesn't have anything in it - like st johns wort. I Like the jarrow formula 50 mg-its priced right and always consistent. It might take a week or so to get used to it but in the end your sleep will improve.I know some people recommend melatonin but I'm not a big fan of it --the tryptophan is a precursor and helps other neurotransmitters along the way.The thing with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia is there is other things that you have to do. There are vitamin supplements you should be taking. cyndiOn Jul 16, 2006, at 8:30 AM, foxhillers@... wrote: Many folks here dissolve a 50 mg Naltrexone tab in 50 ml of water and then use a syringe to withdraw the appropriate dose.  They keep the liquid refrigerated. Cindi can tell you more and will also probably suggest you get the doc to reqrite the script and send it to a compounding pharmace like Skip's to fill it with the proper dose and filler. mjh"The Basil Book"http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/ From: nickolai1812> Date: 07/15/06 22:58:56> low dose naltrexone > Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: LDN, CFS, Sleep and dosing> > Hi,> > I'm thinking of trying LDN again, having read some posts where > people said it improved their sleep. Hi . The Naltrexone 50mg tablets (not capsules) dissolve quickly when

dropped into a small jar containing 50mls of distilled water. Then, using a

syringe you can get at the pharmacy, you can draw up whatever dose (3mg or

4.5mg) you wish, storing the balance in your fridge. I do this every night,

as do any of us here you choose to mix our own, vs buy LDN capsules from a

pharmacist. It's up to you which way you go...

Best of luck, Rae

Hi,

I'm thinking of trying LDN again, having read some posts where people

said it improved their sleep. I've had ME/CFS for 15 years and the first

My current doctor wants me to get one 50mg tablet? or capsule and

divide it up. I seem to remember I was able to get 5mg capsules years ago.

Should I be after my doc to order it from a compounding pharmacy? Dviding a

Also, if anyone here with CFS has had improved sleep (or not) with LDN,

I'd appreciate hearing about your experience. I've run through about every

him.

,

I don't have ME/CFS but my sleep is much improved since starting LDN.

Dividing a tablet physically is very inaccurate for a number of reasons

but dissolving it in a known amount of water eg 50ml or 500ml is what

many people do.
