Guest guest
<<Is there anyone out there on gulcaphage for PCOS?>> Me. I was, but with a nursling I am off of it for the duration. 2,000 mg./day, tapering down to 500/day by the third trimester of my pregnancy, and quitting it 3 days before my c-section. << Were you also recommended a low carb. diet while on it?>> No, but I did try CAD and low GI (much better choice, imho). I heard that I should avoid ketotic states while on metformin (so no Atkins). Was on CAD with low GI reward meals when I conceived Teddy. <<Did these treatments resolve the PCOS or did you have to go forward toward Clomid and IUIs? >> I needed IUI for male factor reasons, and I am a true borderline PCOS case. I ovulate without treatment and just took metformin for insurance against miscarriage. Not sure metformin was helpful; I have no concrete proof of it. The one thing I know helped my PCOS was substantial weight loss, although again, my case is mild. Good luck with your lap/hyst, Jeanne! -- Beth Theodor's mother 12/3/
