Guest guest Posted June 22, 2004 Report Share Posted June 22, 2004 I use the regular Tide (sometimes with bleach) and always cotton underwear. I never use fabric softener on any of my clothes. If it's not too tedious and your doctor recommended, it wouldn't hurt to rinse the garments a second or third time in plain water from a sink before putting them in a dryer. It says on the label that it is Hyopallergenic and formulated without perfumes and dyes. I don't do anything special with my underware. My doc. said to try something called Cheer Free...I found Cheer that claimed it was " free and gentle " , whatever that means. Is that what I should be using? No fabric softners right? those are bad. So, what, the Cheer free is " free " of any fabric softners? 2) And also, he said that I should wash my undergarments a couple of times in plain water after using the soap to make sure I have all the soap out...would that mean just running them through a couple of rinse cycles in the washing machine minus the soap? Can anyone help me by suggesting what they're doing and or/using that might help? Guest guest Posted June 22, 2004 Report Share Posted June 22, 2004 What was meant by the extra washing of undergarments a couple times in clear water, is run them thru the rinse cycle a few times or use very low sudsing detergent. You would be surprised at how much soap stays in your clothes. When I had my vulva surgery, I was using washcloths to dab with after going to the bathroom. My vulva turned white, like there was a coating on it. I was afraid at first that something was wrong....an infection or something after surgery. It turned out to be soap from the washcloths. I washed them in just hot water and it probably took about 7 rinse cycles before there was no soap showing in the water.....and I don't go overboard on the laundry detergent either. Anyone thinking of following Candi's doctor's recommendation - may want to start out slowly with . I know several other women have in the past mentioned that it irritates their vv/vvs too. Most recommend Charmin as being the less irritating of the popular brands on the market. Northern is a toilet paper that almost always leaves little bits behind, much more so than Charmin.
