I did not eat a whole lot today. Eggs & salami for breakfast; a low carb

bar, a couple of small pieces of Dove dark chocolate. We went out to

dinner to Black Angus. At around 7 PM I ate a 6 oz filet mignon, small

salad with no dressing, a few vegetables, and about 4 bites of a chocolate

brownie with ice cream. My blood sugar is now 76 at 9 PM, about 20 points

low for me. Half an hour ago it was 92, which is closer to my normal

levels. My blood sugar is never this low! In fact, I'm feeling a little

odd, and hungry. Does this sound odd to anyone else? (Yes, I did check my

machine to see if it's calibrated.)

I think that a's explanation is a good one. I have begun to

suspect the same thing. I frequently have these " weird " experiences,

and I have begun theorizing the same thing as a.

On several occasions I have indulged in a sweet snack just before

bedtime only to wake with morning bg's at 105 (I am on mo meds and

this is low for me). Or not long ago, I ate at a Thai restaurant and

consumed some of the rice noodle dish, expecting to see my bg soar.

Two hours later, it was 120.

At first I thought it was a good thing for my bg's to be low. I

often have am bg's in the 115 to 120 range when I am low carbing, so

I was thrilled to see the low numbers...

But if what I eat is causing me to dump too much insulin, then it

will increase my insulin resistance even if I get the low numbers.

So too much insulin is not a good thing either.

Any thoughts?

Do you mean a liver dump? I believe that your FBG would be high, not

normal. When I would have a hypo in the night, my BG would be at

least 160 in the morning. Taking my BG at 3am showed it to be in the

40's. I adjusted my eating by having a bedtime snack to eliminate the

low eliminated the liver dump and the very high FBG.
