Guest guest
Oops, I am sorry I seem to have every other ailment categorized except for sleep. I do remember that magnesium about a half an hour before you take your LDN (and go to sleep) is helpful for some people in getting to sleep. Many people have this problem and it works its way out after time. Perhaps cutting the dosage will be helpful for now. Guest guest
Like you said, you're panicking. If you dissolved one 50 mg pill in 50 mL of water and ingested 3 mL of that solution, you did it correctly. The only potential mistakes in that are measuring the water inaccurately or not allowing the pill to dissolve completely. If the information posted here is accurate, that naltrexone is soluble 100 mg/mL, which I have not yet been able to confirm in any scientific literature, then dissolving it is a non-issue. I used to crush the pills, but Bruce G. on this group suggested just putting whole pills in water and allowing 30 minutes, which works fine. The filler doesn't completely dissolve, forming a slurry in the bottom of the bottle, but it doesn't matter. The solution should be stored in an air tight container and refrigerated. Air tight is important because otherwise the water will evaporate, leaving a more concentrated, inaccurate solution. I use a graduated cylinder from my days as a chemist. Are you using some sort of accurate measuring device? Pharmacies generally stock such things, I think. The sleeplessness and restlessness is a well-known side effect of naltrexone itself. It means it's working, boosting your own body's endorphin production. For most, the effect subsides in a matter of days and becomes a much welcomed (controlled) boost in energy. It sounds like it would be wise for you to drop your dose for awhile. Many have mentioned starting at 1.5 mg for up to a month then 3 mg, etc. If you take only 1.5 mg a day, that equates to 33 days per pill. The shelf life of the refrigerated solution isn't well known. Some have said 2 weeks, but there's been no " study " of which I'm aware. You could throw away your solution after 2 weeks and use only half a pill in 25 mL of water for the next batch if you plan to continue at 1.5 mg for another 2 weeks. Melatonin is a great, natural sleep aid. My wife has become a terrible insomniac in the last few months and melatonin is the only thing that truly helps. Our bodies produce it and use it to regulate sleep. It's usually sold in 3 mg tablets at department stores and pharmacies. I pay $5.50 for 120 pills. I take one if I want to sleep better. takes 3 up to 5 at once. alkanasooner wrote: >As I mentioned earlier, I took my first dose of LDN last night and >have not slept at all since I got up yesterday morning at 6 am. >Earlier, I felt fine, just unable to settle down. As I mentioned earlier, I took my first dose of LDN last night and have not slept at all since I got up yesterday morning at 6 am. Earlier, I felt fine, just unable to settle down. Now, I am dead tired, but my panic/anxiety attack symptoms are on the rampage. Is there anything you can do or take to offset this mega hyperactivity? I have to get some sleep if I am going to work tomorrow -- and it is a new job for me, so I am going to work tomorrow. One problem could be that I have not been able to get a prescription and I am diluting 50 mg Naltrexone tablets ordered online from India. I think the reference to get them there came from this board, but I am not certain. At any rate, it is possible that I did something incorrectly and/or that the filler in these pills is not good for me. The package is marked "Naltima: 50 mg Natraxone Hydrochloride". If you're not on blood pressure meds get some melatonin at a healthfood store, take either 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 12mg, 15mg...whichever dose fits you best(trial and error thing)and take the melatonin 30 minutes to an hour BEFORE you take your LDN and take your LDN at 9pm every single night. Try to be consistent with the time you take your LDN and this may help your body to adjust to the medication better.
Guest guest
Thanks, I will go out and get the Melatonin. The only natural sleep aid I have right now is Valerian Root. I did not take it last night as I did not what to do anything to mess up the action of the LDN. I am so thankful for this board! Since I had what seems like a very strong reaction. I think I will layoff for a few days, and then start fresh with a lower dosage. If I don't sleep tonight, I'm going to start seeing pink elephants on parade. I will post my results when I go back to the 1.5 ml. Thanks again. Guest guest
Do not skip any LDN doses, you'll just prolong the insomnia...tonight just only take 1.5mg at 9pm ad do that for 7 days.
Guest guest
,That is probably your problem. Can you get it prescribed by your doc? It is not a good idea to try to compound a drug unless you are a pharmacist. I would let the Pharmacist get the drug from where they feel is a safe place. It might be a good idea to wait until you get this settled or you may end up with more stress and anxiety, especially starting a new job. Guest guest
I'm sure I'm going to get much heat from some on this group, but that's ok. This has been on my mind for some time. I completely agree with Cyndi Lenz about being community minded about the propagation of the use of LDN. Those are my words, not hers. In a cause such as this, I personally don't think all press is good press. One bad story of an " amateur " doing themself harm by " mixing their own drugs, oh my " would definitely be a set back for the cause of getting the medical industry to " allow " us to take LDN. I was an ambassador for Rottweilers for the entire almost 13 years my boy was alive. He was the sweetest dog I've ever known (ok, maybe a close second to our Golden Retriever now). He literally never hurt a fly his whole life (ok one fly when he was a puppy and thought it was great fun to chase them until he caught one and spit it out). I made it a point to take him in public to talk to people who initially cowered and show them how friendly he was and how kids could pull his ears and cheeks and he didn't even show his teeth. I do understand actively taking steps to keep a positive image while trying to advance a controversial cause. I don't agree with the notion that dissolving a pill in water and measuring liquid doses is bad, bad, bad for all individuals. has already said she can't get a prescription. If those were readily available, we wouldn't have a battle to fight, correct? There are potential problems with people completing what is the relatively simple task of mixing and administering liquid LDN. To be blunt, not everyone has enough sense to do so. Others have cognitive problems as a result of MS or other afflictions. Take your time and be sure of what you are doing. Use measuring tools of an appropriate size. Measuring 50 mL with a 500 mL container, for instance, is inherently inaccurate. I use a 25 mL glass graduated cylinder, filled to the 25 mL mark twice, *at least* accurate to within 0.5 mL of 50 mL or 99%. I use a 5 mL plastic syringe to administer doses with very fine marks etched into the side at 3 mL for me and 4 mL for before the factory ink wore off. This step I would say is accurate to within 0.1 mL of 4 mL or 97.5%, minimum. That's an overall accuracy of 0.99 * 0.975 or ~ 96.5% or better. In other words, is getting between 3.86 and 4.14 mg per dose. I can absolutely live with this, especially since the " correct " dose is only known to be in the range of 3 mg to 4.5 mg. I agree it would be risky to openly advocate this method for everyone, but I disagree with telling , who can't get a prescription, to not take LDN unless she can get a prescription. How many on this group alone have said they've tried for extended periods of time to get a prescription and still can't? My opinion only, of course, . I've posted before the nearly miraculous benefits has received from LDN and I don't want to bore the group, but e-mail me off group , if you want to hear an encouraging story. There are also hundreds of them posted on the internet. Not taking LDN *could be* very bad for your health. has been taking the liquid form for 9 months. She took compounded powder capsules for 15 months before that. The last 9 months her health has without a doubt been better than the previous 15 or any time in the 8 years I've known her. That is not to say it's because of the change in LDN form, but certainly liquid LDN has done her no noticeable harm. Peg Janssen wrote: > , > That is probably your problem. Guest guest
Sleeplessness is definitely a side affect of LDN. When I 1st started, it was so bad until I quit. However, the next time I started I took some vacation time. Because...I knew what to expect. Also, I continue to take Xanax at bedtime. Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Try it free. Guest guest
Also there is very little filler in a naltrexone tab. I'm not saying it couldnt affect you in a negative way, but we're talking somewhere around 25-30mgs. I would hope the naltrexone tabs you got are the same as the Revia, but I just cant say it is. I tried to get an answer from Skip on another board, but I dont think he likes me. (LOL, just kidding!) > > > , > > That is probably your problem. Can you get it prescribed by your > > doc? Guest guest
Melatonin 3.0mg at bedtime (the same time every night) is the best! Non habit forming natural sleep aid you can take. Usually runs about about $4.00-$9.00 dollars depending on how big a bottle of tabs you want. Takes two-three nights before you notice it start to work. Then after a while you don't need it anymore. You just start getting sleepy nauturally. Try it. Sincerely, Juice alkanasooner <alkanasooner@...> wrote: Thanks, I will go out and get the Melatonin.
