Guest guest
Kathleen I should never have mentioned the meningitis thing. I should know better - just the mention of the word has me running in to check on Hamish! All I know is that there has been media speak re an increase in meningitis cases here in Scotland following the severe flu epidemic As far as I know, it is simply a case of people's immunity being lowered by the flu -and thereby being more open to secondary bacterial infections.. it is not connected directly to the flu. I am pretty ignorant re a lot of medical things but I really didn't think meningitis could be " bubbling under " As far as I have read, it comes on strong and quick. What did they want to do the spinal tap for? Again, excuse my ignorance - can they test for " lurking " spinal/meninigococcul bacteria? Is a spinal tap to take a sample of spinal fluid? I hope you are not worrying unduly about this. Please speak to your doctor if you are as I am definitely not the best source of info on this.
