A sibling with possible ACM/SM

As many of you know, our youngest daughter - Katlyn, has been diagnosed with

ACM/SM since 3 years of age. She has had three decompression, odontoidectomy,

spinal fusion -with the halo brace for four months, dura plasty, revision of the

dura plasty.

Her sister has been complaining of abdominal pain and has been going under

testing since July. She just had a VCUG (to check out the kidneys and bladder)

and the results were negative HOWEVER, it was discovered that she has Spinal

Bifida Occulta.

Of course with the understanding that there is a high incidence of ACM/SM with

Spinal Bifida, we have been in touch with the NS office and an MRI of the brain

and complete spine is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9:AM.

It has been a very scary thing to have one child go through this process but to

think about another one is again a frightening experience. Please say a prayer

for . We are not saying anything about the possibility of ACM or SM

until we get hte results back on Saturday. They are running the MRI's stat so

we should know something by Saturday night.

We will post again when we get the results.
