Guest guest
Hello, Maureen,Sorry---I'm sure I just misspelled your name. Yous post asked all the questions I wonder about. I have had MS since I was diagnosed on 12/12/91, but I know from enduring what is commonly known (in my family) as 'The Migraine That Lasted NINE months' that I have had it much longer than that. My husband of 24 3/4 yrs. divorced me mid-MS and therefore left me with no insurance, no doctors, and no medications; and shall I add, no $ to buy insurance if anyone in this state would accept me. The only one in NC which will accept a new policy for an MS patient wants $2400.00 a month. Nealy 29,000 a year is out of the question, so I am making do all on my own. Trudeau, anyone? So, when I read about LDN I have been very encouraged, but How do I Get it? I have no Dr. from whom I could get a prescription. Is it possible to order anywhere from anyone? My life is also complicated by the fact that my husband managed to make sure my credit was ruined so I could never get a credit card when he threw me out. So, I have 0 balance, 0 energy, can't walk, AND have to try to get by without a credit card. Can life get harder?Any wisdom about LDN you might be able to pass on would be SO appreciated !Thanks so much, Holt Messenger with Voice. PC-to-Phone calls for ridiculously low rates. Guest guest
I was very sorry to read your story, . Life can be tough at times... You definitely don't need to see a neuro and beg for an LDN prescription, or pay $500 for Dr Bihari's prescription either, like many folks are doing. There are many of us here who mix-up 50mg Revia capsules with 50ml of distilled water, then store it safely in the fridge, drawing whatever dose they want into a measured 5ml child's dropper that you can buy from your pharmacy. I bought my Revia from www.medsmex.com but they're out of stock right now, as I understand it; but there are other outlets: http://www.brandmeds.com/pricelist.HTML , then scroll down to Revia, you can buy it by the pill (cheapest way!). Or try http://www.eshoprx.com/prdDetail.aspx?Param=340 & cmd=1. That will get you 28 pills that can last for almost a year, depending on your dose. I daresay you'll need a legit credit card to place your order though, but maybe a friend can order it for you if you repay in cash; or you can suggest it from your family for a birthday? Maybe they'll take a money order? Good luck! Guest guest
Does NC have an Health Insurance Pool? SC does. This pool is for " uninsurables " . As a matter of fact, one of the requirements is a denial from an insurance company. The premiums are not cheap, but they are less than half what I was paying for private insurance (which was $1600) and has a MUCH lower deductible. If you go with a deductible of $1500, you can open a Health Savings Account. That account will provide you with a card like a debit/Visa card for tax deductible medical expenses. The account also has a tax advantage just like an IRA. All of this is separated from your credit, I'm pretty sure. --- In low dose naltrexone , <ckholt4992@...> wrote: > > Hello, Maureen, > Sorry---I'm sure I just misspelled your name. Guest guest
Try public assistance (Medicaid) They won't cover LDN but Will cover medical expenses. LDN can be obtained without a prescription via: http://www.eshoprx.com/prdDetail.aspx?Param=340 & cmd=1 And by the pill at: http://www.brandmeds.com/pricelist.html The first option is a bit cheaper but the other offers the by-the-pill option. Guest guest
i think that the messages are getting really confusing. thank you Rae for your nice words. I do not have ms or anything else this time that requires LDN ( I don't think so but you never know) -in my last message I was trying relate this with depression that we were all talking about . no matter. just wanted to straighten that out.brewing your stuff in the kitchen has been a big topic in my house. just to explain who I am so there is no confusion.I am Mrs Skip the wife of Dr Skip Lenz who has been very active in LDN for years. I am a RN who has been working the pharmacy. Most of my work is in the animal world-I do rescue work and some other stuff and the only human (as opposed to veterinarians) that I have been interested in is our MS patients and other patients that are on LDN. Last year I fulfilled one of my dreams and I went to film school. I think the combo of being a nurse and being very disgruntled with the mainstream medical establishment , having the luck of knowing some wonderful doctors and really exploring mainstream care especially the care that you guys get on a regular basis is drilled into my brain. and the way you all help each other in the face of your own illnesses is nothing less than incredible. This past year I traveled with Dr Skip and my son Adam to the second annual LDN conference at NIH and we videotaped the entire day. I am slavingggggg away at editing it right now (only kidding-i am editing but it is so much fun) . I just told this story this morning to someone else. I had no idea how important it would be until I came back and started to capture the video. I went there with the only expectation that we would have video for Dr Gluck and the low dose naltrexone web page. while we there we also interviewed Dr Gluck, the wonderful Anne Boyle Bradley, her wonderful brother Dr Phil Boyle, we have a great interview with skip the car and one with Dr Crowly that blew me away and -here is this sweet guy- a practitioner form rural ireland- and he says into my camera in that sweet Irish voice"I think that someday patients will sue doctors for NOT giving them LDN." its just incredible information. what my goal is with the dvd is that you guys can bring this to your doctors and watch them and also share this information with other folks who may benefit so people can actually see that the people behind ldn are not internet wingnuts but actual educated physicians (and one fabulous pharmacist!) and an author who are all quite knowledgeable and educated and are floored by one thing. none of them understand why more physicians are not prescribing ldn.after this is finished I will be working on a short documentary - the only thin I am missing is patient input -because I want folks to see you guys the way I see you guys. and I want folks to think very seriously about how our healthcare is delivered (or not!) having said that Rae- if I needed LDN -I would still need a prescription but I would get it compounded.cyndiOn Jun 20, 2006, at 11:18 AM, Rae & Doug Bower wrote:I was very sorry to read your story, . I guess it's like many parts of life, "follow the money". I will be getting one of the DVDs for my library. Apologies for the sudden 90 degree turn that is not specifically oriented to LDN. I'm sharing this link with this group as folks seem to be reasonably well read and might be interested in the information. Very Truly Yours Sir Real Ring'em or ping'em. Guest guest
Hi, Mrs. Skip. :-) I'm in Long Island, NY and have been getting LDN from your pharmacy since November 2005. There aren't words to explain how it's changed my life - and I just recently had a wonderful neuro visit this past Tuesday. My doc is finally interested enough in knowing more about LDN- for treating his other patients who have everything from arthritis to Crohn's to ASL.... he's very excited now and is devouring info from Google. I feel so happy that I've enlightened him - with my own progress and response to LDN speaking for itself. Please let me know when the DVD will be ready - I'd love to purchase a copy to pass on to him. Thanks again for your devotion to the cause of MS-ers out there, Jenne How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.
Guest guest
-Hello, I ordered my Naltrexone from Skip's Pharmacy in Florida. I live in Washington state. I ordered 90 1.5 mg. capsules that come with Aricet as a filler. They cost me about $25.00 plus arounf $5.00 shipping. I began taking them on June 8th - 2 weeks ago. They took about 5 days to arrive. Would have been sooner yet, I ordered them right before the weekend. Very nice customer service. I do wish though that they had the Acidophilus filler available.
