Guest guest
Gordon, I tried to switch to the Fentanyl patch. Some people have had good luck with that, as it provides round the clock coverage. I had problems with the patch adhering, and in the spots it did stick it caused my skin to get extremely irritated which took about month to clear up. (I have some skin issues, and problems with adhesives.) The biggest problem was I had *no* pain relief from it for some reason. (I now know what I feel like when not taking any pain med. and if there is a level 11 on a scale of 1 to 10, that's what I have without anything. I would rather have had a migraine than the pain I had then. I have been taking methadone for nearly 2 yrs now, and have had excellent results with that. I don't get drowsy, and don't have the side effects of some of the other meds. I still take Vicodin for break-through pain. Until my pain increased over a period of 7-10 years, I'd been on Vicodin only. I found Vicodin helped relieve the musculo-skeletal pain better than Tylenol with codeine. I would get groggier on Vicodin than methadone or Tylenol with codeine, but that's me. I've heard of others taking the contins that have no problem with them at all. The best thing I ever did was to take my doctors advise and begin taking pain medications around the clock. I fought that for far too long. Now I look back and wonder why. I regained my life when I did. Good luck on finding a med that's perfect for you! You deserve some pain relief. Wisc heds From: Gordon I was wondering what pain meds there are out there. I may be on onoe of the contins or codones in the nest couple of day and I was wondfering what else there was. I know of patches but nothing spacific.
