Guest guest
Hi everyone-- I've been a bit silent, been away at the beach in RI and then up to the great state of Maine for a family reunion. I've been back about a week now and of course the problems eating continue. The weight continues to go down, currently I'm weighing in at between 109-114, depending on the normal body fluctuations. I had another upper GI done this morning and was actually pretty surprised at the results. The radiologist took the time to discuss the situation with me, I guess because I was so well versed with my medical condition, and actually gave me the results on the spot. I have a pretty serious bowel obstruction of the small intestine, I assume the limb of the " Y " , down low where it empties into the large beginning of the large intestine. The radiologist said that the adhesions are so dense that after 45 minutes, the barium did not move through at all. When I expressed my concern about surgery only causing more adhesions to grow, he said that I absolutely will not live with an obstruction this bad. So, I'm not sure what I will decide, but I have a week before I go back to the see the doc, so I have that much time to make up my mind. Right now, I look at surgery as only putting off the inevitable as they most probably will only grow back in 3 to 4 months time. Anyway, it came as no surprise to me. The radiologist said that it was no surprise that I was in so much pain when I try to eat. I ask for your prayers once again as I go through the fog, trying to carry on with all the day to day and make such a difficult decision once again. I guess that they will try to feed me through TPN once again as I'm seriously underweight. I'm sure that they won't be able to operate on me without some form of nutritional support. Anyway, I've missed your support and encouragement, and can really use a whopping dose right now. This is once again quite overwhelming. But, we'll get through this one too. Thanks again. --El
