very awkward and embarrassing question...

For at least the past 10 years I have had this tremendous head pain

and pressure during bowel movements I hate to even mention it but I

wanted to know if I was the only one! Mine is sudden and quickly

passes in such a way that it begins as fierce, intense and

excruciating pain then it begins to throb and then the throbs get

duller until it is gone. Usually about ten seconds, sometimes less.

I always have to stop doing what I'm doing to get it to stop. It

literally feels like my head is going to explode! I often feel a

need to put my hands around my skull to keep it from cracking in half.

I was wondering if this could be Chiari related because my

neurologist keeps telling me that my ACM is not causing problems. I

thought if I could tell her that there were other " chiarians " with

the same problem it might get her attention.

I'm sorry the content is so personal, I just need all the help I can

get!

Jen, we talk about *anything* here! No need to feel embarrassed.

This is what is called a valsava maneuver. One thing that can help

alleviate the problem is to make sure that you keep breathing while having

a bowel movement. If you hold your breath when you exert yourself, it can

cause a temporary increase in CSF pressure.

Yes, it is relatively common with Chiarians.

Sylvans right...I remember a certain conversation about Chip going out for a

woody and in Paradise with her legs in the air waving them about...

Funny what I remember...

LOL
