Guest guest
What a great article, Lona; thanks. Maybe we should have a poll of how many of us also have allergic rhinitis? I've had chronic rhinitis since childhoold (but not asthma like my father). I got my first yeast infection over 30 years ago at age 17, and it feels as if it never really left. It's interesting that they mentioned dust mites--when I had an inhaled allergin scratch test two years ago, my strongest reaction was to mites. I began a series of twice-weekly desensitization shots, but quit them a year into the program, largely because my VVD flared up after a five-year remission, and I really felt there was some connection. I also find it telling where it says, " Some of the women began to show psychological disorders as a result of dealing with the disease for a long time. " Maybe that's the source of the overly sensitive personality trait controversy we're debating right now. The cart is BEHIND the horse where it belongs--dealing with these types of disorders for years-- decades even--can make you depressed and anxious. Now, where can we find allergists to help us? (When I mentioned my vulvodynia to my last allergist, he raised one eyebrow and quipped, " Sorry, but that's not an area I deal with. " ) Zig
Guest guest
I remember asking my gyn, a few years back, if the vulvodynia might be an allergic reaction. After all the vagina and vestibule are mucus membranes like the nose and throat. At the time I was being treated for a possible mold allergy. The place I worked was full of it. He dismissied the idea. But as I always say, " A mucus membrane is a mucus membrane regardless of location! " ; ] Ruth (Ruthiema)
Guest guest
Then maybe we should just go to the allergist and ask to be tested specifically for yeasts and molds and dust mites - WITHOUT TELLING THEM WHY - and then take any treatments if we test positive????
