HPV can cause abnormal cells resulting in dysplasia. You would have to have

a separate test to know if your dysplasia is hpv related. Itching and

irritation are usually not symptoms of dysplasia or hpv. I have read very few

success stories from any woman who has had a laser used on her vulva tissue for

any

reason. I'd get a second or third opinion before having the surgery. Many

women feel that laser surgery for one condition or another caused their vv/vvs.

I had an abnormal pap test and biopsies of the cervis that indicated

mild dysplasia. During this procedure the doctor noticed an area he

wanted to do a biopsy of. It came back severe dysplasia. So I

guess all this is HPV related. My cousin is an OB/GYN and has said

that he treats this and the women he's treated have responded well

to the laser, but he said the doctors should be well trained in it.

I'm going to the chief of the polposcopy/gynecology department at

Northwestern hospital, so I am hopeful he is well trained.
