Guest guest
We've finally started the diet!! I wish Kaitlynn was more enthusiastic though. Our first day was tough but we made it through. The next day Kaitlynn got her egg nog, well the first one which was a 1/3 strength was pretty easy to get down but when it got to the 2/3rd's strength it was tough getting it down for her. I even made a slushie with it and STILL she wouldn't drink it all. Today was food but she didn't want any part of the butter or cream! HELP! She's registering ketones but without the fat it won't stay right? Her ratio is 3.5:1 and her Kcal/day is 1411. Today I was ready to strangle the neuro! He tells me (after agreeing to do the diet) that he's now thinking it's not a great idea. He was being so negative with Kaitlynn today asking her " do you like the cream Kaitlynn? Of course Kaitlynn shook her head no, then he asked do you like the butter Kaitlynn? Again no from her. He even asked if she liked olive oil. I mean what was this about but being negative? Now he prescribed me Carnitin ( I think that is what it's called) to help in the digestion of the fat, my question is, do we REALLY need that or is there something else I could use in the aid of the digestion of the fat? I'm just thinking that the neuro wrote out this prescription to discourage us from continuing the diet because when I found out how much it was I almost fell on the floor! He's a horrible, negative person when it concerns the diet. I didn't say much but I stuck it to him and asked Kaitlynn " Do you want to be on medicine again? Is there some sort of homeopathic digestive enzyme we could use instead of this Carnitine? I'm willing to give this a try and with the neuro's negativity I don't think Kaitlynn will give it an honest effort. I told him that there has to be a way for the butter and cream to be hidden in the food but he said that it's too much to hide. What about putting the cream in when I cook an egg? Afterwards putting the butter over the scrambled eggs? I've got all the meal plans and I'm going to make a menu up for her. The neurologist wants to see Kaitlynn in a weeks time to see how she's doing on the diet and if she's not eating the cream and butter he said that he won't continue her on the diet! I'm so ticked at him right now! What he doesn't realize is he's given me MORE motivation to do it now! He also said when the child is younger, age 4 or 5 that it's much easier to do. Well, I seem to recall asking him about this diet and he was NOT willing to do it whatsoever! Back then Kaitlynn was only 5! I'm so sorry for going on like this but he really upset me today! I will stop now but if anyone could let me know about the Carnitine I would really appreciate it. Thank you for those who made it this far.
