I'm curious... was this when having products saying they have Splenda in them or in cases where she was just adding Splenda alone to things like tea? I'm finding a lot of the " sugar free " products that say they are " made with Splenda " ALSO have sugar alcohols in them which can cause spikes for some people. (I'm not one of them thankfully as evidenced by my eating two sugar free peanut butter cups with sorbital in them and registering no increase.) The sugar alcohols are usually MUCH higher on the ingredient list than the Splenda on these products. So, while they can get away with the labelling saying " made with Splenda " because it IS in the ingredients used, it can be very misleading as to appropriateness for diabetics. I've heard of others who have a similar effect (rising BG) from any artificial sweetener. I had heard that it was the effect of the " taste " of sweetness (raising the BG) rather than the substance (artificial sweetener) itself.
