My Mom sent this to me and it really made me think. I have been drinking

diet coke for more years than I can remember and even have it first thing in

the am. I have heard how bad the artificial sweeteners are but never thought

about them effecting the Nervous system and Brain. I am going to look into

this a little more. I especially found the links to fibromyalgia, MS,and

manic depression very interesting. What do you think?

Conference on Aspartame marketed as NutraSweet, Equal and Spoonful.

In the keynote address by the EPA, they announced that there was an

epidemic of Multiple Sclerosis and Systemic Lupus, and they did not

When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F; the Wood

Alcohol in Aspartame CONVERTS to Formaldehyde and then to Formic

Acid, which in turn causes Metabolic Acidosis. (Formic Acid is the

poison found in the sting of fire ants).

The Methanol Toxicity mimics Multiple Sclerosis thus people were

being diagnosed with having Multiple Sclerosis in error. Methanol

Toxicity is a death sentence.

In the case of systemic lupus, we are finding it has become almost as

rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet

Pepsi drinkers. Also, with methanol toxicity, the victims usually

drink three to four 12 oz. cans of them per day, some even more.The

victim continues its use aggravating the lupus to such a degree, that

sometimes it becomes life threatening. When we get people off the

Aspartame, those with systemic lupus usually become symptomatic.

Unfortunately, we cannot reverse this disease.

During a lecture, I said, " If you are using Aspartame (NutraSweet,

Equal, Spoonful, etc.) And you suffer from Fibromyalgia symptoms;

spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo,

dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety

attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision or memory loss, you probably

have Aspartame Disease. " People were jumping up during the lecture

saying, " I've got this. Is it reversible? "

HERE IS THE PROBLEM: There were Congressional hearings when Aspartame

was included in 100 different products. Since this initial hearing,

there have been two subsequent hearings, but to no avail. Nothing has

been done. The drug and chemical lobbies have VERY deep pockets! Now

there are over 5,000 products containing this chemical, and the

PATENT HAS EXPIRED. At the time of this first hearing, people were

going blind. The methanol in the Aspartame converts to formaldehyde

in the retina of the eye. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class

of drugs as cyanide and arsenic, DEADLY POISONS!

Unfortunately, Aspartame takes longer to quietly kill, but it is

killing people and causing all kinds of Neurological Disorders.

Aspartame changes the brain's chemistry. It is the reason for severe

seizures. This drug changes the Dopamine level in the brain. Imagine

what this drug does to patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

Aspartame also causes birth defects.

Dr. Blaylock, Neurosurgeon, said, " The ingredients stimulate

the neurons of the brain to death, causing brain damage of varying

degrees. " Dr. Blaylock has written a book entitled, " EXVIROTOXINS:

The Taste That Kills " by Health Press ).

Aspartame Disease is partially the cause to what is behind some of

the mystery of the Desert Storm health problems. The burning tongue

and other problems discussed in over 60 cases can be directly related

to the consumption of Aspartame product and several thousand pallets

of diet drinks were shipped to the Desert Storm troops. Diet drinks

sat in the 120 degree F Arabian sun for weeks at a time on pallets.

The service men and women drank them all day long. All of their

symptoms are identical to Aspartame Poisoning!

There is absolutely no reason to take this product. It is NOT A DIET

PRODUCT. The Congressional record said, " It makes you CRAVE

carbohydrates (sugar) & makes you FAT. " Dr. stated that when

he got patients off Aspartame, their average weight loss was 19

pounds per person. The formaldehyde STORES in fat cells, particularly

I am a died-in-the-wool diet soda drinker and have been ever since they came on

the market. I

started drinking them because as a kid- my family lived out in the boonies here

in Texas and we had

only well water to drink. The stuff tasted sooo bad !!! You barely wanted to

bathe in it, much less

drink it. So, we drank cokes. And I have the rotten teeth to prove it.

My teeth were so bad I had to go to work for thr dentist in order to get them

fixed! That's one way

to become a dental asst. I guess. If I had had to pay for all the work that has

been done in my

mouth it would have bought a new house and a car to go in the driveway with it.

But after reading this article Laurie just posted I swear on my mothers grave

I'll NEVER drink

another diet coke! It will probably be worse than heroin withdrawls but what can

it hurt?

Hi Gang,

My husband is diabetic and he drinks 2 liters of

diet soda and soft drinks a day.Aside from water what

choice does he have?

The only nuerological problem he has is diabetic

nueropathy.He's been diabetic since he was a kid.He is

now 43.

I couldn't get him off his diet coke if my life

depended on it.

What about sweet and lo?I didn't see that

mentioned.I use that in my coffee.

There is a ton of misinformation on the internet regarding

aspartame... just like Chiari. Don't believe everything you read.

Yes. *some* of it is credible, but much is not.

As always, research yourself and you'll find the truth.

well as many other chemicals and conditions) on the 'net and people

need to research it themselves.

places dedicated to the discussion of aspartame. If anyone really

wants to dig into this subject, please join a group dedicated to

aspartame- then you'll be able to benefit from the research of

aspartame experts.

Dear Lee,

I just wrote Chip back. I hadn't read your email first. I mentioned

that it is very unfortunate for diebetic pts who hve very limited

choices. Sugar or chemicals. Sweet and Lo, same thing. Aspartame is

bad stuff.

I was telling Chip everyone calls me the Aspartame police. I am very

pro-active about sharing my concerns. It should be taken off the market.

If you go on line there is so much info on the dangers of Aspartame. It

is legit. I havea cousin that was dx with Lupus 2 years ago and they

feel it may be caused or atleast a contributory factor that she drank

large amounts of diet coke. I also have a friend that had bad migraines

with visual changes, her EEG showed pre-seizure activity. When she

stopped drinking the diet coke and using the diet creamer in her coffee

the migraines went away.

There is soooo much info out there on how bad these chemicals are. It

amazes me that the FDA hasn't pulled it. But money plays a big part.

The diet industry would be null and void!

Perhaps your hubby could slowly wean himself or reduce his intake. It is

harmful when consumed in large quantities, causing toxicity. Does he

have headaches. It causes tons of different symptoms. If you go on the

net there is alot of info.

Your right, the well water had no fluoride and the cokes had sugar in them.

About the age of 18 I had my first toothache and root canal. The dentist told me

to quit drinking

cokes because all the sugar was rotting my teeth- so I started drinking diet

drinks.

Even the diet cokes are not good for your teeth because of all the acids-

phosphoric acid AND citric

acid- which can eat the enamel off. Any patients we would have in the dentist

office that had

numerous cavities/ enamel erosion at the gumlines of their teeth ( class V

decay) was always a dead

giveaway for a coke drinker, and they were always amazed that we knew without

being told that they

were big coke drinkers.

If you stop and think- tooth enamel is the hardest substance in your body and

this acid is eating

away at IT- what's it doing to the rest of your body? And then I read the post

on aspartame! There

is just no redeming quality about cokes, period, except that I love the fizzy

good taste.

BTW, multiple erosions at the gumlines of your teeth can also be a sign of

bruxism (grinding your

teeth) and TMJ.

Sooo- I too knew better than to be drinking cokes, but it seems like such an

innocent habit compared

to cigarettes or drinking or all the other great stuff we stupid humans do to

our bodies.

Did you know that if you put a nail in a glass of coke it will eat through

it in about 4 days? And that the Highway Patrol sometimes carries coke syrup

in their trunks to clean the blood off the highway after bad accidents AND

(one more) if you pour some in your wash it will dissolve motor oil out of

clothes? Just something to think about......don't want that stuff in my

belly....haha!

Leanda,

Your right, the well water had no fluoride and the cokes had sugar in them.

About the age of 18 I had my first toothache and root canal. The dentist

told me to quit drinking

cokes because all the sugar was rotting my teeth- so I started drinking diet

drinks.

Even the diet cokes are not good for your teeth because of all the acids-

phosphoric acid AND citric

acid- which can eat the enamel off. Any patients we would have in the

dentist office that had

numerous cavities/ enamel erosion at the gumlines of their teeth ( class V

decay) was always a dead

giveaway for a coke drinker, and they were always amazed that we knew

without being told that they

were big coke drinkers.

If you stop and think- tooth enamel is the hardest substance in your body

and this acid is eating

away at IT- what's it doing to the rest of your body? And then I read the

post on aspartame! There

is just no redeming quality about cokes, period, except that I love the

fizzy good taste.

BTW, multiple erosions at the gumlines of your teeth can also be a sign of

bruxism (grinding your

teeth) and TMJ.

Sooo- I too knew better than to be drinking cokes, but it seems like such an

innocent habit compared

to cigarettes or drinking or all the other great stuff we stupid humans do

to our bodies.
