Guest guest
Okay. I've just about decided to accept an offer to work for this company just to get the experience, but I'm very nervous about it. I just graduated August 30. I've been working back with a previous employer of mine in their transcription department, but it's for life insurance. I just type up the medical summaries for life insurance companies as dictated on tape by the underwriters, and I have the pts' records right in front of me if I need to check anything. It's not the same as actual experience in a hospital or clinic setting. I need to get some of that under my belt. DTS America said I did very well on their test (at first they wouldn't test me because I didn't have at least 2 years experience, but I emailed back and sold myself so they'd at least allow me to test). The problem was with my version of Windows. They said I need access to Windows 95 or 98 rather than my ME to work with their system (don't ask me why...it just messes up their system somehow, too advanced). Of course, it didn't make sense for me to downgrade when everything else on my computer works with ME. It took them a week or so, but they've gotten back with me. They said they are willing to let me use one of their systems. On paper, we'll have to make it look like I'm leasing it from them for a small fee like $1 or $5, something like that, I guess just for legal purposes. The thing is, I have to give them a $200 refundable deposit (I get it back whenever I stop working for them and return the computer), and I have to purchase the foot pedal that works with their software for $50. For the first 30 days I get paid $.06/line while everything is going through QA. Then once I'm off that probation period, I get $.075/line up to 7500 lines, $.08/line >7500 and <12,000, and $.085/line 12,000 and >. I know I'm kind of slow being new and all. I'm probably going to average less than $4/hour at first. Is it worth it for the experience? They said I'd be doing hospital transcription. Thanks for any input! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
