Guest guest
At first, Becky, normal does feel yucky! It does get better tho...I used to get sick if bgs were under 100. Now I can go a bit lower than that...around 80 before I have probs...but tha's me. Your body has to adjust to being in normal range...esp if bgs were very high at diagnosis. I remember thinkng 200 was amazing. I too have learned of the 140 or less reading after two hours. Am trying hard myself to keep in range, but sometimes it is 150-160. Low carbing is good for me tho. I feel alot better than I did, and now if bgs do go up to 200 I do not feel good at all! Today it spiked pretty dang high, and I can't figure out why. My hubby thot I was too low and when I tested I didn't want to tell him what it was. Got highest at 298. Anyone know if a bad sinus infection alone can spike it that high? Guest guest
amber, if his wbc count is elevated like it should be with an infection....ask the dr not to jump right to insulin. he could put him on an antibiotic and wait a few days to see if it will come down on its own. or he could just put him on regular insulin with a sliding scale and d/c the insulin after the infection is resolved. hugs, jude
Guest guest
Absolutely. I had a low grade infection this summer and all of a sudden I was seeing 280 to 330 from out of nowhere. No amount of insulin could get it below 180 and I was really concerned that if whatever was causing this suddenly went away I could get seriously low. Called a long-time T1 friend who immediately said, 'you have an infection or something else going on.' Within 8 hours on antibiotics I was in good shape. For you fellow newbies, this is one reason a flu shot is such a big deal. > At first, Becky, normal does feel yucky! It does get better tho...I used to get sick if bgs were under 100.
