Guest guest
Hi all! I just wanted to jump in for a second and introduce myself to the group. My name is and I'm an...oh wait, that's the other 12 step place I had open RNY surgery at UCLA in Los Angeles on July 6, 1999 (my " Independence Day! " ) with Dr. Mark Sawicki. I started out at 385 lbs. with a BMI of about 44 and 39% body fat. I had slightly high blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, bad knees and ankles, moderate depression and lived for fast -- and fat -- food. I wore a size 56 coat, 52 inch pants and XXL shirts (with a TIGHT collar!) As of last week at my last doctor's visit, I am at 240 lbs. with a BMI of about 27 and 20% body fat. My blood pressure is at 115/70, I gave away my CPAP machine about a year ago, my knees are in pretty good shape (I don't have to have surgery - YAY!), I'm only depressed when I get my paycheck every month and fast food stock has plummeted in the past 14 months. What a shame I'm now wearing a 44 long coat, just about at 38 pants and large shirts are starting to fit well. My sex life has even improved to the point that now when I have sex there's someone else there with me! I'm a writer in Los Angeles and have started getting my experience together for an article or two for print and media, although my forte is writing for film and television. I don't think America is ready for a WLS sitcom or episodic drama series yet ( " Nurse Hathaway - get me that wooden spoon - STAT!!! " ) I've been here for a week now and I'm so glad there's a place for the old-tim...um, I mean, VETERANS to hang out and " chew the (formerly) fat. " I look forward to meeting all of you on line in the future!
