Stomach bug and starting SCD?

I finally got in my book and yogurt maker and even made my first batch

of yogurt! As far as I can tell it turned out, the problem is the day

after christmas I woke up with a horrible stomach " bug " and have been

in bed ever sense. How long does the yogurt stay good for in the

fridge? I planned on starting the diet with the new year. My

prednisone will be tapered to 10mg then. Any suggestions for just

starting the diet? If I hadnt gotten this stomach bug my bowels were

soft but i was only going once a day and it wasnt D. With this bug I

have gone about 40 times D in the past 3 days! Needless to say I think

my system is cleared out! I woke up this morning and there was blood

:( so this bug threw my UC into a flare. Would it be wise to start the

diet now right after this bug or wait? My concern is the yogurt more

than anything because I have read some people are sensitive to it, I

tried a tablespoon the day of Christmas and did fine xmas day but the

day after I woke up sick as a dog, I know it wasnt because of the

yogurt as my son was sick too with the same thing! Thanks!! Also has

anyone heard of prednisone tapering causing a high platelet count?? I

went to the dr. for this bug and my platelets were 660, the NP said

prednisone tapering could cause it or a hyperactive inflammation

response. I had never heard of such a thing, they want me to get it

rechecked in 3-4 weeks, I was worried this is dangerous because of

blood clots, (one of my biggest fears!)
