Guest guest
When talking to the nsg. about decompression surgery, he said that about 80 " % of patients have to have the dura opened. He said they decide on this while in surgery by using ultra-sound. I know they check for csf flow but is there anything else they use to determine if the dura should be opened? I've read Dr. Milhorat doesn't open the dura. Is there generally more complications if the dura is opened and repaired? I also, wonder why some nsg. open the dura and others do not. Have most of you that have had the decomp. surgery had the dura opened and if so how did that go? I had a cisternogram done which the Dr. said " was perfectly normal " . It showed normal csf flow. Does anyone know if this test is reliable in showing csf restriction due to brainstem compression? Still trying to make a decision on surgery. I'm a complicated case as I have received different dx from different Drs. All agree I have little to no herniation and this seems to be the determining factor with most.
