Guest guest
Debbi, Great job of explaining bone age delay, I don't think I could have given a more clear, better description!! I know it sounds scary, but it really is good news for our kids!! Ian has not had a bone age done for a very long time, but his was very delayed the last time we had it done, probably by at least three years less than his " chrnological age " . The x-rays are done of the hand because the x-ray shows the fusing of the wrist and something to do with the ephyisys (sp) sorry, don't have my med term dictionary at the desk and they measure the distance and come up with the actual bone age of the child. The younger the bone age, the better off for GH treatment the child will be because this gives them the extra time for the GH to work before puberty sets in and takes away the extra time for growth.. I know, sounds crazy & confusing, but this is how it works for our kids!!Missymom to Ian- 5 yrs, assymetry, former g-tube ---------------------------------
