Chiari Parents Medical Cost - have any of you ran into this?

I have insurance and realy don't know what to expect as far as cost for my

son's care. We have BCBS of Al. We are considereing a surgeon in Baltimore,

Md,. They don't accept BCBS. The said land insurance reduced payment down

to 28%. My BCBS would pay all but a copay in Al. We are not wanting to use

the one in Ala.. We were told if we go outside the state they would only pay

80%. I was told by one person being this is rare and many doctors don't even

know what it is, that I might could write letters to BCBS, and or physician,

or pediatrician may could state their opinion in order for him to get better

care he would have to see a doctor outside Ala. 20% could be a large sum of

money, on top of travel, hotel, not knowing how long we will need to be near

the doctor after the surgery, etc. Any of you that traveled to another state

did yall travel by plaine back and forth and for your child how did that go?

Or did any of you travel long hours by car, etc.? Also, he has another

compliciation with his heart and may require surgery. I have always had

insurance for myself and kids, and wondered if anyone is aware of other

resources that I could look into. Also, how long did you parents stay at home

with your child mine is four, weeks, months, a year?
