Hi, Cheryl. I too have had weight loss surgery, a tummy tuck, and a breast

lift/reduction. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and am hoping that I'll be able to

breastfeed with no problems. I don't have any advice for you, because I

haven't had the baby yet, but I do have a couple of questions for you if you

don't mind.

How much did you weigh right before you got pregnant?

How much did you weigh right before you gave birth?

What was your total weight gain during pregnancy?

How much do you weigh now?

What kind of foods did you eat during pregnancy?

Did you get new stretch marks from the pregnancy?

Thanks so much in advance for answering my questions.

Thanks so much for responding. I thought maybe I offended you by asking all

those questions. I really appreciate your response.

Well, I weighed 145 at the beginning of pregnancy and then went down to

140.5 due to morning sickness, but now I'm back up to 145. I'm hoping to

not gain any more than 25 to 30 pounds. I'm not eating the greatest,

either. Boy can I eat a lot since being pregnant, but that's okay. I'm not

packing on any pounds, which is great. At least I know my metabolism has

improved with the pregnancy.

I was hoping to lose 10 pounds before becoming pregnant, but I'll worry

about that afterwards. I'm a true size 8 and can still wear my normal

clothes. Only my belly is popping out there. I just don't want any new

stretch marks, so I pile on the cocoa butter and vitamin E lotion on my

belly every night right after I take a shower.

I've had a breast reduction in 8/97, but I haven't regained full feeling my

nipples. They feel like any other part of my body now. My doctor said that

I should be able to breastfeed and that he didn't remove any of the milk

ducts, but I'm just not sure. He had to totally cut redo the nipple and cut

it out when he did the lift. I'm really hoping to be able to breastfeed.

I'll do it for the 12 weeks that I'm home, but I want to try and pump at

work. We'll see how it goes. Thanks so much for responding.

Congratulations!!!!!! My weight before pregnancy was 136lbs...My weight at

delivery was 167lbs...My total weight gain during pregnancy was 31lbs...My

current weight is 146lbs...I can't seem to lose that last 10lbs!!!! I can

sympathize with Kris...I am too nursing and thought it would be sooooo easy

to lose all of my weight....It is so frustrating!!! I know it's only 10lbs,

but I want to be able to fit my pre-pregnancy clothes again!!!

Well, I guess I'm going to have to be patient!!! I ate all kinds of things

when I was pregnant...alot of carbs and sugar...I know, not great.....I felt

like I was starving all the time. I still couldn't tolerate dairy products

very well, so I stayed away from them!! I kind of got worried for a while

there because I could eat so much when I was pregnant..now I still have a

pretty good appetite, I have laid off the sugar and tried to lay off the

carbs, but I probably still eat too many. I'm hoping that once I finish

nursing that my appetite will decrease. I plan on nursing until Hally is

12months old, so meanwhile I should probably try to get some exercise and

see if I can lose this last 10lbs!!!! I did get a couple of new stretch

marks on my stomach from the pregnancy, but none on my breasts. The ones on

my stomach aren't bad at all and my stomach went back to being pretty flat,

so I wouldn't worry too much about it!!! I had no problems nursing after the

breast lift....Did you have a reduction also??? Do you know if they removed

any of your milk ducts??? Were you able to regain all of the feeling??? The

reason I ask is because I guess that plays a big part in the ability to

nurse and have the let-down reflex!! Well, I hope this helps a

little...please don't ever hesitate to ask questions....I'll be happy to

help anytime!

Cheryl

Jenna,

Please don't ever feel like you are offending any of us by asking

questions....that's what we are all here for !! I'm so sorry it took me a

few days to get back to you...I have been out of town!! I was so glad meet

someone else who had the same kind of history as me!! Sounds like you are

doing great on your weight gain...by the time I was 12weeks along I had

already gained about 9lbs!!! I eventually slowed down the farther I got into

my pregnancy! Is this baby going to be your first child??? I'm so happy to

hear that your surgeon thinks you can still breastfeed...that's

awesome...I'm staying home with my children now, but I still went ahead and

rented one of those " turbo pumps " ....it makes the whole pumping and storing

thing alot easier having a good pump!!!

Do you mind me asking what area you are in??? I am near Sacramento, CA.

Are you feeling O.K.??? Are you having any morning sickness??? I had a

little in the beginning, but not too bad!! I had horrible migraine headaches

because of the hormone levels in pregnancy...yuch....I sure am glad to be

over that!!!

Talk to you later,

Cheryl

I'm so glad to hear you say that. I feel like I need all the advice I can

get. Well, I got on the scale this morning (since a week ago) and I've

gained 2 more lovely pounds. Ugh! I know it's from eating bad, so I'm on a

mission to eat right. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. This is my 2nd

child, but my 1st child after weightloss surgery. With my daughter I

started out at 181 and weighed 247 by delivery. I went down to 218 after

she was born. I'm not doing that again.

What kind of breast pump did you use? I keep hearing that Medela is

excellent and I can rent one from our local hospital.
