SCD Diet - Is it right for me?

Hi, I'm new here. I posted about wheat grass yesterday and got such

wonderful responses I thought I would puch my luck :)...

I was diagnosed with UC in 1998. All drug treatments failed and I

eventually ended up losing all but 1 inch of colon in 2002 after two

brutal surgeries and lengthy recoveries. Since I have no large

intestine, but instead have an internal pouch, I am wondering if this

diet will work for me. I am again suffering from flare ups (in my

pouch this time) and the doctors think I might possibly have Crohn's

even though all biopsy's (nine of them in the past year) have come

back negative. My pouch is definitely inflamed and I go through

severe " attacks " where I can't be more than about 5 minutes from the

bathroom at any given time. I am current taking 15mg of prednisone

which is keeping most of my symptoms at bay, but the shaking nervous

feeling and the " roid rage " is becoming more frequent. Also, I have

had to increase the dose starting at 5mg about 3 months ago. As my

symptoms get worse, my doctors just increase the dose of prednisone.

My doctor has also recommended that I start taking Imuran. I am

looking for alternatives and came across the SCD diet about a month

ago. I read the book " breaking the vicious cycle " and have

experimented with some recipes.

My question is - will this work for me if I don't have a colon?

Things like onions and tomatoes have always given me trouble in the

past and these recipes are chock full of both.
