Guest guest
<< Causes of Lhermitte's sign: 1. B12 deficiency 2. Cervical spondylosis (this is degenerative disease of the spine in the cervical/neck region that is severe enough to cause problem in the spinal cord). 3. Trauma 4. Rarely infection with spirochette (syphyllis) can cause symptoms similar to Lhermitte's sign. Good info on Lhermitte's sign Judy Marie ...the list left off one more cause that I've been told is the most common ....multiple sclerosis . odd bit too ...this was NOT a big problem for me having acm and ms both ...until after the car wreck when my tonsils started droping , and symtpoms got worse .....it improved again to a great degree following decompresion surgery . I do still have intermittant problems with it being triggered ...( its brief ..a transient issue thats uncomfortable but not full on PAIN for me .. ) it seems to come back more , when I've goofed and pushed beyond my li fting limmits , or strained my upper body in a fall ect . this is another symtpom that the anti epileptic meds are thought to help in some of us . again , one I'm guessing my neurontin use also helps ....I'm not sure I every want to find out what life would be like without that neurontin ....as time passses and the spinal cord symtpoms get worse in me ...I'm guessing that this stuff would be beyond my ability to cope by now , without the neurontin ! in Paradise
Guest guest
Judy Marie, Been just scanning posts for several days, but was glad to read this one. All my life I have something like that which goes from my shoulder down over my collar bone... sortof like a really quick, hard muscle spasm.... sometimes I say it feels like a bone breaking.... but electric jolt could also describe it. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have seen a few questions about the feeling of having a jolt of electric shock through your body or through one or more extremities. This really hurts. The first time I had it happen to me was after a sneeze. I did find out that this symptom has a name (can you believe they name one symptom and leave another to your choice of names?) Anyway... It is called Lhermitte's No you are not crazy...it really does happen to others who have a syrinx or, perhaps any spinal cord problem Causes of Lhermitte's sign: 1. B12 deficiency 2. Cervical spondylosis (this is degenerative disease of the spine in the cervical/neck region that is severe enough to cause problem in the spinal cord). 3. Trauma 4. Rarely infection with spirochette (syphyllis) can cause symptoms similar to Lhermitte's sign. warm regards Judy Marie
