Hi - I'm recently on LDN too. Funny thing about the coffee - I've been

starting my mornings with two cups of espresso coffee for years, but lately

can't drink one without feeling a bit sick. Maybe it's the LDN as you are

thinking. Of course, if you ask enough new LDN'ers the coffee question odds

are there'll be some who feel sick after drinking coffee at any given

time...doesn't prove a link, but it's interesting. I'll be looking out for

any other reply's to your question.

[low dose naltrexone] LDN & Coffee

Anyone ever have weird reactions after drinking coffee while taking LDN? I

had a cup of coffee today and I feel really dizzy. I went to buy myself

lunch next door and had to leave because I felt like I was going to vomit

and pass out. I've had this feeling before after drinking coffee. I try

not to drink coffee, but when I do I mix it half decaf and half regular. Or

straight decaf. I get this dizzy feeling every now and then and I'm trying

to isolate the cause. Is it the coffee and LDN, is it the filler (avicel,)

or is this just a normal reaction when first starting LDN? Any advice would

be greatly appreciated. I purchase my LDN from Skips and I'm taking 3 MG.

For those of you who don't know I've been taking LDN for 2 weeks.

Gayle,Interesting.  I'm glad I'm not the only one.  Does it take a while (after drinking the Espresso) for you to feel sick or does it happen right away?  I'll drink the whole cup of coffee and I won't feel sick till at least an hour or 2 after.  Thanks for responding.  I think it has something to do with the caffeine, and LDN.  Maybe the 2 together are too much for me.All The Best, ...helpful support groups for people with MSLDN_Users & www.ldnusers.orglow dose naltrexonemscuredTheChronicIllnessCafe On May 8, 2006, at 6:22 PM, Gayle ston wrote:Hi - I'm recently on LDN too. Cyndi,Interesting point.  I don't drink coffee full strength.  I usually drink halfcaf or decaf.  I cut back on regular coffee a while ago.  I guess I need to cut it completely to see how I do without it.  I don't really need it.  Sometimes I'm just tired and need the extra little boost.  It was never a problem before LDN, but the 2 together might be too much for my system. All The Best, ...helpful support groups for people with MSLDN_Users & www.ldnusers.orglow dose naltrexonemscuredTheChronicIllnessCafe On May 8, 2006, at 7:46 PM, Cyndi Lenz wrote: something you may think about--i'm not saying this is true but you might not even need the coffee and its just your body telling you to cut down. why do we drink coffee-- to wake up to have energy. now if you start cutting back what happens-- you actually get headaches and go thro a withdrawal cyndiOn May 8, 2006, at 6:22 PM, Gayle ston wrote: Hi - I'm recently on LDN too. i would cut back slowly so you don't withdraw-- you might just not need it anymore-its not that its too much its that maybe the reason you were drinking it is gonecyndiOn May 8, 2006, at 8:05 PM, Jay & Beth Vaccaro wrote: Cyndi,Interesting point. All The Best,

Hi,

I've been on LDN for about 2 years now and have had NO exaserbations.

On the issue of coffee I think I can shed some light. I was recently

diagnosed with a condition called low adrenal function. It is caused

by a lack of cortisol among other things. When being tested for the

condition, the test I had done " while taking LDN " showed that my

cortisol levels were above normal in the morning although they were

below normal without LDN. Caffeine also raises cortisol levels. I

suspect that the combination of the two are putting a strain on your

adrenal system causing it not to be able to keep up with the demand

for your body to create cortisol. This usually causes light-

headedness for me and I think could even cause nausea and vomiting

under the right circumstances.

I suspect that cortisol levels are at least one key to the cause of

MS just from the fact that fatigue has been a major symptom for me

and a lot of the people I know with MS and since being on treatment

for that condition, I don't need as much LDN as I used to.

Anymore, I recommend that anyone with MS get tested for cortisol

levels...do not use the blood test method, they usually fall within

what is considered " normal " . There is a saliva test that is taken

four times in a day and it is not only very accurate but can help

pinpoint the specific times of day when levels begin to fall.

Most doctors do NOT test for this condition, they only test for

absolute lack of cortisol. In other words if your adrenal glands have

not completely failed, which is called 's disease, they

usually do nothing. I had to look for some time before finding a

doctor who could help me. I know I went off of the subject but if I

were you I would want to know.

God Bless

Penny

I think this is awesome information. I don't have ms but I had low

cortisol and as I build my adrenals back up I feel the need for less

coffee.

How many attacks would you have on an average per year before LDN if you

don't mind me asking. Also, the message you sent is very informative. That

is why we can tolerate coffee better sometimes and not others. Vitamin D, B5

and C support adrenal functioning. Also. PS (p. serine) lowers cortisol

levels in several studies) Thanks for the great info. Best, Kathy

Oh I was being lazy. It is phosphytylserine. A lipid found in the brain. I

don't want to bore anyone in this group so just hit delete if you are not

interested. After years of managing this condition, I am having symptoms

that are more than just of a transient nature. At the same time, I have

missed two periods. Sorry guys but this is about helping others, not being

distasteful. Concurrently, I have seemed to lost the ability to tolerate

coffee at different times and I conducted a mini not so scientific

experiment. I tried the coffee different times during the day. Confusion,

tremors and some other neurological symptoms occurred. I read the

informative e-mail today which reminded me of low adrenal functioning and

coffee robs the adrenals. I go get my Starbucks, come home, experience the

same things. At this point I get out my vitamin D, B5, raw adrenal complex

and 7-Keto DHEA along with a green drink to restore alkalinity and clean my

blood. Within 15 minutes, I had clarity and energy. All of these nutrients

support adrenal functioning and adrenal exhaustion is a very common thing

when women are menopausal. This is also a time when ms can get worse so it

is important to use NATURAL hormone replacement. I hope this helps at least

one person or gives you a different avenue to pursue in your quest for

wellness. Best regards, Kathy

I enjoy Licorice root for adrenal support. I alternate it with Siberian ginseng.

My wife has been getting on very well with LDN and a few other things for MS, but unfortunately we found out about LDN too late and we are looking for something with more symptom reversal potential. I have been looking at the pH issues and we are currently using Magnet for a separate back problem (near miraculous results and theoretically a pH change therapy). Can you tell me what you have used on what disease and what success you have had.

Thanks

Dave

I am off avonex and on to LDN for two weeks now. Balance is far

better, stamina is much better. Coffee intake is definately down.

One cup in AM is plenty and often left unfinished. Some nausea on a

Hi Roy, Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! Hope everything works out great for you like it has for me. I have been on LDN since September 3rd, 2005 for Progressive MS and Transverse Myelitis. full cup everytime. I love my coffee but.... royrobey@...> >> > Hi - I'm recently on LDN too. Hi,

Wow!! I drink too much coffee but never thought it would make our disease (MS) progress further.

I would be interested in knowing if anybody else believes this theory too. Maybe I better rethink the java habit.

[low dose naltrexone] LDN

Hi All;

Did someone say coffee should not be drank when taking LDN or when a person has MS?

Has anyone weaned off or cut back on there prescription pills such as muscle relaxers and be nerves for sometime while cutting back? My legs are improving while transferring, much stronger, if this keeps up I should be walking soon.

I seem to have large gray areas when blinking my eye lids, that is new to me. My MS Dr. when reviewing my MRI, June 07said, my MS is know longer active, would you think she meant I'm on the road to recovery? I should have asked exactly what she meant. My care giver, she has noticed much improvement in the last two months, my family had a reunion last weekend, had a great time, two months ago I wouldn't have attempted to go.
