Is there a special protocol with making pea soup from

dried green or yellow peas?

Does one just do as one does with beans, and leave

them to soak overnight and then change the

water?

Are they only supposed to be eaten when you are

symptom free?

TIA,

>>The first thing I noticed was that I didn't feel nauseaus anymore after riding on the spinning wheel with my son at the playground. My accupuncturist had mentioned that the nauseua might be due to weakening of the digestive system with age. I now think it has to do with what I was eating and the fact that I probably have yeast issues from lead poisoning, although I haven't been formally tested yet.>> Thanks, Any. This may explain why as adults we can't swing for the long periods of time like when we are kids...our digestive system weakening with age....hmmmm... So, in general, have your intestinal issues gotten better since your month on SCD? :-) tara

The turnip (Brassica rapa var. rapa) is a root vegetable commonly

grown in temperate climates worldwide for its white, bulbous taproot.

Small, tender, varieties are grown for human consumption, while

larger varieties are grown as feed for livestock.

The rutabaga, swede or (yellow) turnip (Brassica napobrassica, or

Brassica napus var. napobrassica) is a root vegetable that originated

as a cross between the cabbage and the turnip. Its leaves may also be

eaten as a leaf vegetable.

Tara,

Several allowed foods on BED are considered irritating to the gut by

SCD standards.

Example: Green coconut water. Unripe apples give cramps and diarrhea

and the same can be true of any " green " fruit.

SCD has some beneficial fermented vegetables allowed like sauerkraut.

We usually suggest a one month trial of SCD to see if a person

benefits. There is some " die off " at first, so it takes a few weeks

to get " rolling " along an begin to see progress sometimes.
