I am very interested in it, since I've had depression for some time before LDN (MS for 15 years), and started LDN 2/1. I take Wellbutrin, but it really doesn't help much. I still can get really sad, really quick, almost moody and then it goes away pretty quickly. Anyone else with this? Just wondering if that is LDN doing that with the moods because of the endorphin levels being messed with. > > Thanks, > -- DLPA by Solaray http://www.totaldiscountvitamins.com
Guest guest
Aletha, This kinda describes me too, easy to cry and have a hard time starting my day, just lay in bed until 10:00 if I am not working. Of course, this all started when my MS symptoms started. Unfortunately I don't think I should take DLP because I read on the cautionary warnings about it not being good to take if you have had certain cancers. One in particular is melanoma. I haven't had that but my dermatologist told me I am at an extremely high risk for it because I have so many atypical moles and 8 basel cell skin cancers. She told me that years before my dad had a melanoma. Now it's in my family so I don't think I should try it. It sure is tempting though!! Guest guest
Hi , One of the meds that my husband was taking for depression was Wellbutrin too. It also did not do much for him. He was also easy to cry and very depressed. Every morning I had to spend over an hour giving him a pep talk and trying to get him out of bed. He did not want to live. This even after he was doing so well physically with LDN. We tried everything from counseling, to hypnotherapy, and meds. The day he took DLP was the end of his depression. I hope it is the same for you. I don't think you would have anything to loose. Check the net for the Solaray brand and you should get a list of different carriers and their prices. Guest guest
Hi Aletha, Thank you so much for sharing this. Its amazing, what you describe is me to a T. One other question, should I stop taking Wellbutrin once I start DLPA? Thanks again for your help, [low dose naltrexone] Re: DLPA> >>>> Did we ever decide where the best place to buy Solaray DLP is? Guest guest
Hi , stayed on Wellbutrin and paxil for about a week while he was on DLP, just in case. He continued to feel so good that he stopped taking them at the end of the first week. I don't know if it is recommended to get off of the other meds first. I would check the internet and see what warnings they may have. My husband started DLP in February of 2005. He is still doing great with it. Guest guest
Hi Annette, This is a great question to pose to the group. It is kind of interesting because LDN is supposed to help you if you have cancer and you happen to be taking it while possibly getting on DLP which you are warned about taking if you have melanoma. So you have to wonder if you are safe in taking it or not. Of course you should be very cautious. I wonder if there is anything else that can be taken in its stead. If you are worried about cancer, I highly recommend working on balancing your PH levels. I have a friend that was told he would die even if he had Chemo. By the time he found out he had lung cancer (never smoked), there were tumors in other areas of his body too. He decided to go completely the other way and started "juicing" to change his body to alkaline. He later went into an alternative cancer clinic and they measured his tumors which had shrunk by 1/3rd just from the juicing. They did other things in the clinic and kept also working on his PH levels at the same time. He is not cancer free. He said that he will try and schedule an appt. with the same hospital in Alabama and get a clean bill of health and say "what about the diagnosis of death within 4 months". I decided to start juicing and eating more alkaline foods this year as a preventive for cancer. The theory is that cancer cannot survive in a more alkaline setting. A great site to look into is Bruce Guilmette's site at Survive Cancer Foundation, Inc. He often comes on our chat site to help with questions. His site is Http://survivecancer.net My very best Aletha Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: DLPA Aletha, This kinda describes me too, easy to cry and have a hard time starting my day, just lay in bed until 10:00 if I am not working. Guest guest
Althea, I am curious. Was your husbands' depression worse after hypnotherapy? I was.....I found my self thinking thoughts that I 'felt guilty' for thinking....I wouldn't suggest that for of treatment for anyone. wendy2 --- Aletha Wittmann <Aletha@...> wrote: > Hi , > > One of the meds that my husband was taking for > depression was Wellbutrin > too. Guest guest
Hi , No. But it did not seem to help his depression at all. The therapist he went to unfortunately was doing the therapy from her apartment and there was slight noise outside. He went to a few sessions but never seemed to get anywhere. I would imagine that some therapies don't work the same for everyone. Also, some therapists may not be the right one for you. If I were having a negative experience like you have had, I would either stop right out or find another therapist and explain what was going on first off. I have always wanted to try it, but for different reasons. If I ever have the chance I hope it will be a good experience. Guest guest
Aletha, That is very interesting. Thanks! I will check out Bruce's website. I I just told my husband last night that 5 months before I went on the LDN the dermatologist removed what she thought was a precancerous lesion from my ear and told me to only come back if it came back, and it didn't until I was on LDN for about 4 - 5 weeks. Of course it could "not" be related to the LDN, but who knows. Annette

Guest guest
Aletha, After reading your post about your husband's depression and DLPA, I thought I really want to try this for my depression. I used to think that nothing was going to work because of what I am going through, and I am already on an antidepressant to help with sleep too, and it's not touching the depression. So I looked it up in the big catalogue at GNC because I was concerned about the cancer(melanoma) and it said "preexisting pigmented melanoma," and I figure I haven't had it, and since I am at risk, I'll just keep an eye on my skin and try it out. I tried one 400mg pill at 2:30 today when I bought it, and about an hour later noticed my spirits lifting, having more energy. I don't have a problem with fatigue, but the melancholy feeling I am having just drags me down so much, I don't get much accomplished. Anyway, I felt much better and plan to continue it. Thanks, Annette
Guest guest
Hi , I list the DLP (or DLPA) in the "welcome e-mail" I will also send you a copy of an older chat from the group with some different info on this product. It does come with some warnings. If you have high blood pressure it is not advised. Also, there are a few types of cancer that one should not take DLP with. The warnings should be listed on the net. It is great for depression and works well with LDN. It also helps with energy too. Guest guest
Hi Annette, I am happy to hear that you felt your spirits lifting. That is a great way to describe it. My husband takes 500mg in the morning on an empty stomach. He used to take one in the afternoon too, also on an empty stomach and that was great. For some reason he decided that the morning one was enough and it has been just fine. So, If you want to try 2 for a while and then go down to one just to see if you do as well then maybe that would be good as you have the concern with Melanoma. Kindest of regards Aletha Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: DLPA Aletha, After reading your post about your husband's depression and DLPA, I thought I really want to try this for my depression. Guest guest
Aletha, I didn't know you are supposed to take it on an empty stomach, but I took it today at 7:30 a.m. and ate at 9:00, and I feel so good. I haven't gotten this much accomplished since before my symptoms came on, just from being depressed. I still worry about my situation, but I find myself more absorbed in daily activities, like before. Thanks so much, Annette

Guest guest
I am an adult with CFS, MCS and Fibromyalgia. I started using LDN two weeks ago and have just joined this group. Please tell me what DLPA stands for. Thanks. Alice
Guest guest
Dearest Guillermo, The typical way to take DLPA (or DLP) is to take 500mg in the morning on an empty stomach and wait a half an hour before eating. Many people also do this in the afternoon too. My husband started by taking 500mg in the morning and then he would take 500mg in the afternoon before dinner. It worked wonders for his depression and he had more energy. Later he decided to only take the morning one and he did fine. When we have an evening event that he needs to have more evening energy, I will ask him to take the 2nd on in the afternoon. It seems to help. If you are taking your DLPA in the evening with your LDN and it is giving you the effects that you want, then I guess that is fine, but you said otherwise it was not helping you with anything else. I am assuming that it is either for depression, pain or energy that you are taking it. If you wish to try the other time options, or at the least have one pill in the morning, it may be more helpful for the desired effects you are looking for. My best Aletha [low dose naltrexone] DLPA Hi all:I wanted to share this because maybe It can help some of you.Last month I began to take 500mgs of DLPA at the same time of LDN. First I didn't feel any difference. A week ago I take the resolution to quit it and began to take it one day yes and one day no, then elimninate completely, but I noticed that the day I took it I slept the hole night and If I woke for any reason, I slept again without any problem. The day I didn't take it I woke at 3:00 am, and never went to sleep anymore, like in the past 3 or 4 years. That's horrible, so Im going to keep taking DLPA.Remember that MS didnt work the same to all of us, so everyone has to know what is good or bad, and that only can be possible, testing all the alternatives that we have without doing harm to our weak health.Guillermo
