a second meter

Why then, do you have to keep a second meter? I can understand having a

spare meter for necessity (I have a second meter of a different brand

because things in KSA are not consistent and some times may not find the

strips I need).

But what I don't understand is why those of you who are under insurance

have to use the extra strips you buy on the second meter. Couldn't you just

go to the pharmacy, buy your brand of strips and use them when the ones

paid by your insurance run out?

For me a second meter is a back up should something happen to the

one that is in use. The second meter is the same model as the one in

use. What good is a second meter if you have different strips.

Medicare and Insurance companies only pay for one type of strips. If

I have a different band than what I have than I have to pay for the

meter and strips and that comes out of my pocket. Also having the

same manfacture and model meter my reading are more likley to be

close. For information on comparing meters see some of my previous

posting. Many doctors and CDE'S are givern meters by companies to be

givern to patients..just ask........Capt

My second and my third meter is the same as my first, the one touch ultra.

My doctor gave me the first when I was diagnoisic and then he gave me my second

to keep in my office at work and then my dietician felt like I needed the

third for my briefcase. They use the same strips. My meter at home is the one

I

use the most.

Why not to have second meter ? There are many benefits in having it- One you can

always keep in traveling kit. Or may be at workplace so you do not have hassles

of carrying with you.

I used in different way, all my pp samples I would take on one meter and morning

samples on another.

Ofcourse this does not justify cost of another meter, but if it coming free ,

why not have it as a convenience.

Hi ,

The only reason I have a second meter is because it was free. It is small

enough that I can keep it in my purse, so I use it once in awhile to test

after

eating out. I get enough strips for testing twice a day and that is all I

use. I do not go out and purchase strips.
